Fabulous idea, I visit this particular one every time I visit Melbourne! The food really is great and the place has a good vibe.

I agree with what's already been said, staff (who are all volunteers) are extremely friendly and warm, value can't be anything lower than a 10 because you pay whatever you feel, and the food is generally good.

I love the buffet style where you can put whatever you want on your plate and go up, however, many times you want. There's always a soup and salad with about 8-10 dishes (very good variety of dishes I might add). Their curries are the highlights for me.

The only thing I didn't rate very high was the ambience. I personally don't like the feel there but that's just me. It's not supposed to be modern, romantic or anything like that.

Come here for a good feed and I'd encourage everyone to be a little more generous when paying at the end! They do great work and I know they're running at a bit of a loss (as you could imagine..)!

I like this Lentil. Lentil Abbotsford is homely and inviting, and there's a real feeling of community. There was a children's party going when we were here which I think is a fantastic idea.

The staff are great - friendly and relaxed. The atmosphere grungy and laid back. The food was quite nice. I'm not vegetarian so I probably don't appreciate veg food as much as I should. You pay whatever you feel the meal is worth.

Highly recommended. A great experience in a genuinely friendly place. Will be back very soon.

I have been on many occasions and keep coming back for the great vegetarian food. However, the last two time we went, we were disappointed. The curries and the Vietnamese salad just isn't the same. Otherwise a great concept with generally good food.

This place is delightful! The staff were so friendly from the start - eager to make you feel at ease and welcome. I went on a Sunday for lunch and so was able to make selections from a lovely buffet - all the dishes were very flavoursome and there was a fair bit of variety! My soy chai latte was surprisingly good, and, although a bit grungy, the atmosphere was great - we really enjoyed watching the African dancing on the big screen - and the mix of furniture was homely and inviting!

Not a great place for a date or anything like that, but certainly a wonderful experience. As previously mentioned, you pay what you feel the food (and experience) is worth!!

What a great unique idea! How can you not rate it well - you choose what you pay for the food! The idea is that you pay what you feel it was worth. And the food was good too - I had really yummy baklava. Definitely worth the visit.

Excellent value! The BYO option was a hit especially being allowed to put bottles of beer in the cooler fridge. The platter of curries is great and the special birthday request for scrambled Tofu was fulfilled even though it was from the brekkie menu.

If you like good wholesome vegetarian food in a slightly grungy atmosphere, then you need to go here. The choice of vegetarian delights is matched by their quality. Some of the best veg curry we have had in ages. The staff are always very pleasant, in keeping with the whole philosophy of the place. And as for value? You pay what your heart feels.
