Overview of Lemnos Taverna

Theo Kolliniatis took over this landmark 30 year-old restaurant recently. Theo practically grew up in his uncle's restaurant in Santorini Greece, and has had extensive hospitality experience, having owned various cafes and restaurants in Melbourne.

Stefano Ioannou is chef and business partner. He has 20 years experience as a chef and comes from the coastal area of Greece. Seafood is his specialty and he says that "we like to spoil all our customers with choice and wide range of good quality ingredients we have at Lemnos Taverna".

Started with Saganaki and Mixed Dips which although on the small side (dips) were wonderful, tasted homemade and fresh.

What followed was the seafood platter and meat platter. A wonderful selection of fresh tasty and tender meat and seafood nicely cooked and promptly served. Service was great and very attentive even at a time when the restaurant was packed during xmas festivities. Great night enjoyed by all and definitely will go back.

I have been to this restaurant four times and it never disappoints. My favourites on the menu include the charcoal chicken skewers (best chicked I've ever tasted) and the saganaki (grilled cheese). The staff are attentive and very friendly. The price is reasonable. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable evening and very good food. Things looked positive when we arrived and there were a number of large parties all speaking Greek and in high spirits. Marinated Lima beans were outstanding as an entree. The yogurt and cucumber salad was the only miss of the evening. It was too creamy in consistency for our taste. The char grilled baby snapper was well cooked, moist and very tasty. The beef risolle was well cooked and very flavorful. Clearly a meat and seafood place, so vegetarians be forewarned!

We had the meat platter to share and although the quantity was impressive, I think there could have been some dips in there to balance the salty flavours of the meat. However, I was impressed by the service and the free dessert platter they throw in at the end. Would def go back!

We decided to give this place a try reading the reviews. Happy to say that we were not disappointed at the slightest!

We had the banquet, the food is just delicious. My personal favourites were the seafood platter (calamari and prawns were amazing!) and the meat platter. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked just right. There was plenty of food and we wish we had worn stretchy pants. Great value for both the quantity and quality of the food!

Service was outstanding, very friendly but not intrusive at all. Food also came very quickly (I'm a fairly impatient person and hate having to wait for food) which I was very pleased about. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Lemnos Tavern is one of the tastiest greek restaurants in Melbourne. The food is highly recommended to seafood/meat lovers. Service is excellent and I'll be 100% sure to be back.

I was fortunate enough to be taken here by my girlfriend for my birthday. We absolutely loved it. The food was flavoursome and well priced. The staff were so friendly you felt like you were a guest at their home. I couldn't fault this place at all. I can't wait to go back. The saganaki and meat platter is highly recommended.

Wonderful food and wonderful staff. The staff are courteous and well-mannered and the food is exceptional. I would not recommend any other place apart from Lemnos. My favorites would have to be the grilled cheese (saganaki).
