Chef and Owner Dario came out to Australia 3 years ago and realised Melbourne needed a restaurant that served true Italian food. This restaurant brings authentic tastes from Italy, the pasta is made daily on the premises and the pizza's are woodfired. Come and try L'Angolo's unique Bellavista Pizza, its like nothing you have every tasted or seen before.

This joint is gold, probably the best food I've ever tasted, great service, great value for what you get! Highly recommended.

Very nice atmosphere, my lamb main meal was rather disappointing, it lacked flavour, however, the serving was generous and the lamb was cooked well. My partner got a pizza which was excellent quality, and the italian meats and cheese platter for an entree was really something that you don't get in many italian restaurants.

My partner and I arrived to a nice welcome from our waitress, and she was quite helpful in elaborating the items on the menu. For a starter, we decided on the "Tris di Bruschette". Whilst the flavours were generally pleasant, the bread arrived burnt even though the chef hoped to disguise this fact with the toppings.
Despite this, it was actually preferred over the other starter which was mediocre enough to be forgotten. Our mains consisted of eggplant with multi-coloured pasta, and the "Bellavista alla Bufala". The unique pizza shape was a novelty for a while, the bread soft and crusty at the same time, but I thought that the bread-to-topping ratio was imbalanced, thus I felt it was too pricey.
The pasta was really nicely cooked, it's texture something you would never come across in a La Porchetta, but the eggplant was barely cooked despite it being sliced thinly. It's contrasting chewy texture was a bit off-putting. Was it supposed to be raw? Optimistic about dessert (we both love italian desserts), we ordered "Creme Brulé al Baileys" and "Tortino Caldo al Cioccolato con Parfait alle Pesche". The creme brulee was absolutely divine, the perfect way to conclude a romantic night out, my only complain being that there was not enough of it!
The "warm" chocolate cake, however, was too dry to be appreciated and it was accompanied by a tiny scoop of vanilla icecream, not the peach parfait as advertised. When asked about this, the passing waitress informed us that the icecream *was* the peach parfait, saying that it is "peach-flavoured". In finishing, our main waitress noted my sullen look and asked about my dining experience, encouraging me not to be afraid to tell her truthfully.
We informed her about the Tortino and she gave us sincere apologies and offered to bring down the price by half ($14 to $7). Overall, I am really impressed by our main waiter, her genuineness to help is rare to see in restaurants. I am less than impressed by the other waitress and although the food overall was nice at times, it definitely didn't deserve the price-tag that came along with it.

Just celebrated Mother's Day at L'Angolo Italiano and was extremely impressed, as was everyone on our table. The five of us shared the antipasto italiano and bruschetta, which was beautiful. I then ordered a pasta, which was better than anything I've tasted before, including my many visits to Italy.
The service was also friendly and they were only too ready to help. There was none of the italian arrogance you receive at places like Cafe di Stassio. My only wish was that we had booked earlier and managed to get a seat inside instead of sitting outside. Although it was quite fine, except for the intermitten noise of tram passing.
Highly recommend, and I'll be back for sure!

Sensational - food is absolutely fresh and definitely home made. Every mouthful was magical. Service was amazing and we felt more like old friends than our first visit. Can't wait to go back to try more on the menu - Wayne & Doreen Narre Warren

I'm a fussy eater, and a serious foodie, so I rarely recommend places if I don't swear by it, but I'm suitably impressed when I first visited L'Angolo.
From the outside, it's easy to overlook this understated restaurant in the busy corner of Nicholson and Alexander Parade. But if you make an effort to check it out - I'm sure you will be well rewarded by its authenticity, the homely warmth, generous hospitality of an southern Italian family, the skills of the Sicilian chefs, the buzz of italian speaking atmosphere that greets you, almost transported your imagination to believe you are in the heart of Italy.
I particularly enjoyed the Pasta there, and believe that they are a class above most I tried (I stayed near Lygon street for 3 years and been to most good Italian restaurant in the precinct), the freshly made Squid Ink Pasta (is my favourite by far!) still makes me salivate when I'm writing this.
There are plenty to write about, but its the little touches here and there that leave me the deepest impression, even the way they serve their Affogato - Vanilla ice-cream in a Cocktail glass, a shot of espresso separate and a separate shot of Amaretto. They only pour it in front of you to give you the best hot/cold experience. Not the melted mess most places done theirs. It's my little unconventional way to determine how much pride they have in their passion for serving the best for us, down to the smallest details.
If you ever crave for an great Italian fix, L'Angolo never disappoints. I know, I've been there 3 times in a month and trust their quality enough to invite my closest friends and family and hosted a few parties there, from Reunion, Birthdays to Christmas. Can't wait to have another special occasion to visit!
My parting tips: Try the Trio of Bruschetta, Freshly shaved cold cuts, Seafood Squid Ink Pasta, a pretty and yummy Pizza Bella Vista, Bailey's Creme Brulee and finish it off with a Affogato! Bon Appetit! Ciao Ciao for now.

Fresh ingredients, creatively put together to produce authentic Italian cuisine. The service is excellent, and the staff are very helpful and accommodating. The meals are filling, and this restaurant definitely offers value for money compared with the over rated and over hyped Italian restaurants of Lygon St. The bread is made in the restaurant and the house wine, at $7 per glass, is a great deal. V highly recommended. I'm a regular now :)
