La Luna Bistro serves up contemporary Australian cuisine with a distinct Mediterranean influence. The ambience is warm, friendly and informal. La Luna takes pride in its steaks--900g and served on-the-bone. The bistro has an impressive wine list as well.

Upon entry, your attention will likely be caught by a blackboard with a sketch of a cow or pig, illustrating the anatomy of the animal and the corresponding meat from the different parts. You know this is not your average bistro. These guys know their meat.
You will be welcomed by a friendly staff, seated at a nice cozy table and provided an elegant and well designed menu - just enough choice without an overload of information (menu's are available on their website).
With that said, you don't need a menu. The staff a very knowledgeable and will tell you whats best on that day, along with the best wines to complement each dish. Food is as good as the staff describes it. My filet mignon steak was perfect. Try it.

What can I say, La Luna is almost perfect! The waitress we had was attentive and knowledgeable. Food was simple but done very, very well. I had the Cheese Souffle which was different to what I was expecting but still lovely. The Aged Beef for main was just amazing. Cooked to perfection and served with a creamy mash, tasty Jus and a Red Capsicum Compote, My friend had the Barramundi which was very much enjoyed.
We went with the Dessert Tasting Plate which was 6 different small dishes of the Chefs choosing. The house made ice-cream wasn't so nice. A Blueberry flavour that was too sweet and a Burnt Sugar which had so much overpowering burnt flavour that we couldn't eat it. Otherwise everything else was the same high standard as the entree and main.

A very pleasant place to enjoy wonderfully created meal. The service is very good, food is always impressive, although once we found the duck too dry and salty. Wine list is also very good but a little to pricey. We just love the cured meat that Adrian does himself, must try. Tasting plate deserts are fabulous, and so intricately presented. Highly recommended.

We went there on Tuesday (3rd Aug) with some guest from Perth. We did not booked but the staff managed to get us a table for 7. Appreciated.
When we order, 30 minutes for Char-grilled Aged beef (aged on the premises), creamy buttery mash, pepperonata $42.50. 40 minutes for Aged Beef on the Bone, spinach, mushrooms and red wine jus $85 per kg is rather long don't you think? We ordered 1.2 kg as suggested by the waitress. No bread was served while waiting, only when we asked.
When we've got our main together, instead of serving them one by one, we were shocked that my guest Rump was raw instead of medium well, went back to the kitchen and mine Scotch Fillet was well done instead of medium. Sautéed kipflers potatoes, garlic and parsley $9.50. Sweet beets, was dried, is it frozen? I must say 08 Cullen Cab Sav Merlot is exquisite @ $85/bottle.
Although we give them feed back, there was no apology. For what they are charging they should come up with better product and service. We went to Brunetti for dessert, just to make sure my guest will have great experience in Melbourne.
Would be hard to recommend and take my guest to this establishment in the future.

One of the best kept secrets of Melbourne. A romantic quiet restaurant for all occasions. Reliably delicious food every night of the week from aged steaks (house speciality and one of the best you'll have) to seafood and vegetarian, perfect all around. The dessert tasting platters are a must, so save room and share with your partner or your mates, because they are big! Perfect for a quiet dinner and lovely wine with your loved one, I had my 10 yr anniversary there and I can't forget the steak, it was good!

I loved La Luna, my husband and I had a truly wonderful evening. The food and the service were beautiful. The beef was amazing, but my favourite dish was the delicious roll of pork. The waiter recommended a wonderful Italian style wine from Australia, that was great value and yummy.

Had wanted to try La Luna for a long time but was greatly disappointed. Food was OK but limited options, service lacked any real interest and the wine prices are just disgraceful. Basically not good value for what you get which isn't really anything better than a number of other restaurants in that strip.

Expected a lot more for the price, and they had an unusual selection of beer, I have had a lot more and for less at other restaurants. I ordered the pork crackle which was dry at $37, and my wife ordered the duck, which was also dry at $39.

Very good italian food. I took clients here for lunch and the prices for main are good value. Very nice non-intrusive but attentive service and good relaxed environment for business conversations.
