Over rated, mass manufactured chocolates. Had to laugh at the token 'demonstrations', whilst the bulk of their chocolates are churned out in a factory. Very little differentiation in flavours and textures these days, from one chocolate to the next. Crammed and snobby environment. Loved the idea, and their chocolates, before they became a chain store and everything that goes with it.

Quite simply a great place to go for chocolate and any kind of chocolate-related dish. Fantastic presentation of the iced drinks served in cocktail glasses with fancy chocolate spirals etc. Very smooth but very rich hot chocolate (especially the dark hot chocolate), have not been able to finish one yet!

They did appear to have a fair horde of tourists stopping by to take photos and buy the chocolates, so would recommend sitting at one of the tables set further back from the shop area.

I was a regular customer of Royal Arcade 3 years ago and it was amazing have the greatest hot chocolate in the world again! The taste is the same! but I missed the friendly and funny ladies from that time. I guess nothing can be exactly like your past memories after 3 years!

After having a friend rave about the hot chocolates I was a bit let down. They weren't as rich as I have had at some other chocolate cafes. We got the Belgian plate and the little chocolates and the mousse were stand-out, would buy those again!

It was a really busy day and the waitresses were very nice to us even though our friends were late they found us a table and were not at all fussed about us waiting for our friends before we ordered. I would go again but focus on dessert rather than drinks. However, the others really liked them, I think, perhaps, this is a good place for people who aren't normally into heavy rich drinks.

Absolutely amazingly nice hot chocolate and blocks of dark chocolate; but I wouldn't say the price justifies the taste... Then again, there's no alternative so I'd go back every time I'm in Melbourne.

Absolutely loved it. Gorged myself stupid whilst there and bought far too much chocolate to take back to Sydney. I was in Melbourne for a few days so we had to hunt down all the Koko Black stores. They're all just as glorious. Very happy they've opened a bit closer to home (in Canberra) and waiting patiently for them to open in Sydney - they'll smash the competition.

Quite simply the best hot chocolate I've ever had. The chilli hot chocolate was an unexpected favourite, very addictive and definitely warming! Loved the layout, choice of leather sofas, or more traditional table and chairs, and a glass bit at the back where you can watch chocs being made. Great range of chocs to buy at the front of the store (and they don't seem to mind you eating what you've bought with your hot chocolate if you can't stand waiting). Wish we had one of these in Sydney!

While on holidays in Melbourne from Sydney, I read and was told about this chocolate cafe. They had the BEST hot chocoate in town, so I went to investigate and I must say that they were RIGHT !!! I wanted to marry the guy who made my drink. chocolates were lovely and hot chocolate to die for. Go early in the morning otherwise it gets too busy, noisy and you have to wait for a table. It is only small but there is upstairs to sit down as well. So worth the visit, next time I am in Melbourne I will be going again for sure !!!!
