Great food had the squid ink linguine marinara 10/10, friendly service real family style restaurant. Definitely be back.O! and no spruikers trying to drag you in this in itself tells you something about this place they have a loyal clientele.

We also came in on Easter Sunday as we had heard much praise about Il Cantuccio. Although it was a very busy night, the staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious; real home cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed the homemade gnocchi and homemade cannelloni. Definitely visiting Il Cantuccio again very soon!

Looks like we caught them on an off night. We were down from Sydney and visited on Easter Sunday for dinner. I had the ribbon pasta with avocado and cream sauce. Little sign of cream and very watery meaning it was tasteless. We actually felt like we were intruding as what looked like the senior staff was entertaining friends around a table. We won't be back.

What a find. This is basically a doorway. Walk past it and you may miss one of the really "family" style restaurants that make Lygon Street a nightmare of choice. My wife and I have declared this our favourite Italian restaurant in Australia. Pity we live in Newcastle, NSW.

The staff make you feel welcome, almost like family. The food is not fussy, and the choices can be found elsewhere, but the overall presentation, atmosphere, and the "Vibe" make this a great place to relax and simply indulge in well prepared food, good grog, and good entertainment from the professional wait staff as they move at frenetic pace. Il Cantuccio may never get a Star or Hat, but it does not need them to draw a capacity croud. Reserve a table to avoid going elsewhere.

I was in town on business and went to Il Cantuccio by myself. The staff made me feel very welcome and served great food, with a smile. The steak was one of the best I've ever had, juicy and succulent. Check out Vince's home made wine. Delicious!

Great service with a smile, the staff were very pleasant and the food was homestyle and enough to satisfy one of the better experiences we had during our trip to Melbourne.
