I'm fussy with the quality of the meat. Often it is tough, fatty or sinewy, however, Haveli hasn't disappointed to date, with fat trimmed and succulent results.

A group of us have been lunching at the Haveli from time to time over the past ten years and the food and service continue to impress - mind you, being lunch, we are often the only group in the place. There are plenty of vegetarian options, with plenty of variety (the baby eggplants in particular are fantastic!) and the lamb, succulent and full of flavor. Coffee too, is good (unlike many Indian restaurants). I recommend the Haveli Alison, Mount Dandenong.

Most horrible indian food I ever had. Please do not go to this restaurant, better eat at home. The pre cooked entrees were removed from the freezer and just grilled to warm and serve. Servings are small and not worth the value.

I went with a group of around 20 people for lunch today (10th Dec. 2008) The food tasted ok....that is if you could find it. I mean a pile of saffron rice and the other bits and pieces ( Mixed Thali dish for $17.50) couldn't satisfy one's afternoon tea appetite.

I went there around 15 years ago when it was operated by Baby Thomas, and thought it wasn't good value then so if that's the name of the game at Haveli, I won't be back for another 15 years.

The food is good. But after going for lunch quite a few times & being loyal customers over the last 5 years, we expected a lot more when we arranged a party for 25 guests. The service was horrendous.

No food brought to the table, extra corkage without any warning or explanation. Soft drink jugs $10 each!!! Which only served 3 small glasses + we were overcharged for 1 guest! When called to complain & offer feedback. We were rudely brushed off & dismissed. Given a lecture about the restaurant industry and basically told bad luck! Never going back again. Not worth it!!

The food was above average which is good as they are not cheap but that is Doncaster. Service was fine.

Firstly it is hard for me to rate the restaurants Ambience as I only ordered take away from them so I've rated them a 7. The food was very good, I tried the butter chicken, chicken korma, beef vindaloo and I found them to all well spiced, very tasty to the taste-buds. The rice was fresh, and whilst I didn't eat the naan bread my friends said it was crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside and they loved it.

I found the food to be a little more expensive than most other Indian Restaurants I've been to around Melbourne, and for this I think they lost marks for value for me. By far the worst experience from Haveli was their service. It took almost 1 hour and 40 minutes for the food to be delivered from Doncaster East to Doncaster. When they arrived at the door, my friend (who had nothing to do with the ordering of food) answered and was told that it was 7kms to get from the restaurant to here, and that they could never deliver here again.

Honestly that is what a melways is for, and they should have determined early that it was too far to deliver and called up with apologies. Waiting almost 2 hrs for dinner is simply unacceptable. (is Doncaster East really that far from Doncaster???), I found their rude delivery despite the good quality of their food, to be enough for me to not want to actively order or dine at Haveli any time soon.
