Pleasant food in a nice room (even though it’s in a pub!), and no doubt it’s authentic regional Italian (although we’re only amateurs at discerning that sort of thing).

In relation to the entrees, those of us that has the asparagus spears with fried egg and thehalf-shell scallops enjoyed these dishes, but it was felt that the char grilled calamari had just a touch too much char!

For mains, the grilled pork cutlet and roast duck with orange and juniper sauce were both fine, but each lacked something of a “spark” (we wondered if this was in the cause of authenticity). The fish of the day was barramundi and was considered to be very good.

For dessert, we shared some Italian doughnuts, which were fine. The service was initially a little cool and the kitchen seemed a bit slow at one stage but as the evening progressed and we all loosened up a bit, it became really charming and friendly.

Has seriously lost the plot last two visits. This was one of most authentic (and best) italian restaurants in melb, but on my last two visits this month, veal was actually "boiled"? chops, duck was burnt on underside, mussels raw, sent food back and just got a forced apology. Sorry, lost my patronage!

Great place for a casual bar meal or drinks with friends or a special night out enjoying Melbourne best Italian food. No wonder this place was voted 3aw pub of the year!

Favourite Melbourne restaurant thus far. Highlights of the night were my barramundi risotto, my veal shanks, and my partner's watermelon sorbet dessert which was absolutely fantastic on a warm summers night. Can't recommend highly enough, especially considering there is a great pub next door as well for pre/post dinner drinks.

Right up there with Grossi Florentino in the food department. Excellent value for money, superb menu. Can be noisy but doesn't really detract. Great service.
Been back several times since first review and it remains my very favourite Melbourne restaurant. The food, wine list and service remain superb.

A great Italian restaurant, especially with entrees, seafood, the hand-made pastas. and the "rabbit of the day". Duck can be a bit dry. Desserts generally good, though a recent bombolli with pistachio ice cream also dry. Reasonably attentive service falls off when the pace picks up. Very good wine list with Italians, and well priced by bottle and by the glass.

This is the perfect bar/ restaurant to have a catch up with friends, relax and eat some amazing food! Make sure you head down on a saturday arvo in summer with friends and enjoy a few quiet beers in the beer garden - it cannot be beaten! Enjoy.
