Enjoyable, not for breakfast. I have been to Gingerlee a few times now but I always find the menu suits lunches. Service can be a miss at times but I wouldn't complain about the food.

Was definitely looking forward to eating here with friends last weekend. The place was packed though we were offered a table down the back to accommodate our child & pram (which was a relief given recent experiences).

It all turned pear-shaped when the waiter refused to allow us to order a piece of French toast without all the trimmings for our son to eat. He then also flatly refused a request for a single piece of toast with some vegemite, stating that they did not allow any alterations to the menu, even though the first item on the menu was toasted sourdough with a choice of spreads. We would have to order that and pay the full amount for 2 slices, which wasn't a huge problem but by this time my wife had really taken exception to his absolutely rude & uncompromising attitude.

We asked if the manager was working, to which he said "No, well she is, but we don't do that" I burst out laughing after nearly choking on my coffee - I was expecting fireworks, so I cancelled the order for the toast, ordered eggs on toast for myself with an extra slice - problem solved for $1.50. Why couldn't this waiter have offered such a solution? - unbelievable. A friend told me a similar story where they refused to serve a meal without its topping of parmesan cheese, to which she was intolerant - so much for service!

The food was actually very good, and the variety of dishes was making choosing difficult. Maybe next time I might manage to have something more interesting than eggs on toast, but then I doubt there will be a next time, which is a shame.
