Our starters were brought to the table with the main course. There was a hair in the chicken Tikka and the waiter smiled when we showed him. Then there was a frozen piece of chicken in the Chicken tikka among some hot pieces, this was not a good sign.

And our friend ordered a glass of red wine during the starters and surprisingly it never arrived. The coffee was instant rubbish, surprising for a restaurant in Melbourne. We asked three staff members for the bill and when we paid the bill, we had to ask another two staff members for our change.

Low and behold, myself and my friend who dined in Gaylords last weekend spent the whole week extremely sick, coincidence? I do not recommend anyone to dine in this restaurant.

We had our first dining experience at Gaylord on a weekday lunch visit. I was in something of a hurry, and had to leave no later than 40 minutes from our arrival; but, as the restaurant was completely empty (apart from the staff and my dining partner and myself), I imagined that this would not be a problem. Exactly half an hour after we arrived, our meals were served.

The waiter had informed me that my dairy-free dietary requirement would not be a problem; so, rather than the three dishes specified on the "thali" menu, the chef had whipped up one and added it to two separate compartments. Okay, so "dietary requirements" can be a pain - I understand this, but had assumed the 30-minute wait was a result of extensive food preparation. The second dish on my thali plate was like nothing I have ever experienced in all my years of dining at Indian eateries - it was a frozen, thawed pile of carrot, pea and cauliflower slop.

The "garnish" consisted of two slices each of cucumber and carrot that were so dry they were going white (i.e. had obviously been sitting, pre-cut, in the fridge for a few days). To top it off, the waiter brought me roti instead of naan, as naan contains dairy; and the chef had drizzled melted butter all over the roti. Never again!

The curries were average. We had a rogan josh and the lamb was tough and chewy. The flavours of the meal were bland and had no depth. We ordered one of the banquets and it took over an hour between our starters and our mains and by that point we were ready to walk out (wish that we did now). The desserts was just a small scoop of cheap neopolitan icecream which was also disappointing. The only decent part of the meal was the starters. The banquet was completely overpriced for what we got and I definitely won't be going back.

A friend brought me to Gaylord last night and she had many good things to say about it. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to my expectations. The decor was cheesy and rather try-hard. The service was below par, trying to get the attention of the waiting staff was a feat in itself. And the food, well, nothing spectacular about it. We order a curry dish each and rice. For a $15 chicken curry, I would expect more than 5-6 small pieces of chicken. Not good enough. It's really disappointing to see such low standards in Melbourne. I think we all deserve better.

We visited Gaylord restaurant on a Friday evening, so it was understandably busy. We queued at the door for about 20 minutes, they seated 2 parties behind us before acknowledging us which was frustrating.

Food is not expensive by any means, but our table found the lamb Rogan and butter tikka very average. Service is also not great, we had to ask more than once for drinks and never received any water as requested.

The meal served it's purpose but it was not the experience we were hoping for. Being from the UK we are used to indulging in some excellent indian food so were disappointed with this. It appears that the food is mass produced and not freshly cooked and they find it difficult to cater for a full house.

I went there with my family once and the food was stale and awful, it look 200 years old with red and golden chairs and old artificial flowers, place was full but not many people looked happy, highly not recommended.

Poor service by the staff @ Gaylord. Very very average briyani, very bad tasting fish, lamb rogan had nothing but the smell of clove. I don't understand why the staff behave so rude @ Gaylord Melbourne, we wondered if we were uninvited there, waiter placed the cutlery on the table to use it for the next serving, I asked it to be replaced and she didn't like it, they are least bothered about what we say and the timing to bring it.

I was told about this restaurant and later found that it was mere hype. I wouldn't never ever step into this place even in the wildest of my dreams. Gaylord Restaurant should understand that quality is beyond displaying celebrity pictures in front of their restaurant. Eating out is about 50% service and 50% taste, this restaurant is below par on both. I wouldn't visit another time or recommend it to anyone.

Food was okay, however, the service was disgusting. The wait staff were very rude after a gay couple showed affection to each other. The wait staff would not speak to my friend or his partner, once it was clear they were a couple. It was obvious enough that the entire table commented on it. I would never eat at this restaurant or recommend it again.

Food was great and definitely value for money, but service was very slow and not somewhere you would necessary go for a romantic night out!
