Peggy has done it again. Owner of the fantastic Carlton Curry House, Peggy has now created another amazing Indian eatery, this time in Fitzroy. We visit Melbourne every year from New Zealand for a shopping trip and always ensure we have a couple of meals at the Carlton Curry House. This time we tried Peggy's new restaurant at 240 Johnston St, Fitzroy. Amazing is all I can say! The menu has the traditional Indian favourites but also boasts a Summer menu. Ask for the Manchuri cauliflower. I don't think it's on the menu yet but is truly sensational. As is the mango chicken, paneer kofta and warm chicken salad. As always, Peggy runs a smooth operation, with very efficient and friendly service. The ambience is warm and inviting, with lots of character. And being an economical place to dine helps as well. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic for Functions! I organised a work function at the Fitzroy Curry Cafe in Johnston St and highly recommend it for a great night out, with great value for money.

We had just over 50 people there for a banquet meal and pre-dinner drinks. The food was well enjoyed, there was plenty of it and a great variety, which included all dietary requirements being catered for. Peggy is a wonderfully attentive hostess and her staff are equally so, the service was very impressive and all guests were well looked after and enjoyed a lovely evening.

We loved our meal here, and tried some of the winter dishes. It was refreshing to try something different. The chef seems to be really creative and the service was good too.

About 18 months ago I wrote a review of the Carlton Curry House and was interested to see whether Peggy's new venture would be up to the standard of her Carlton Curry House. It is. One of the features of a good restaurant is consistency and the FCH produces dishes on a par with those offered at Carlton with the same high-quality ingredients prepared by excellent cooks and brought to the table by extremely friendly waiters and waitresses. I enjoy eating there and recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly.
