Overview of The Farm Cafe

Located alongside the Yarra River and surrounded by plots of garden vegetables, this lovely spot is a slice of the country smack-bang in the middle of Melbourne. Scones and damper are the favourite, and if a pot of organic leaves is your cup of tea, you've come to the right place. If you happen to be there at 10am or 4pm you'll see Bella the cow being walked across the grounds for her twice-daily milking, otherwise the intermittent bleats, crows, peckings and squeals should satisfy your farm experience. The staff are warm and natural, and very happy to chat with you, especially if you'd like to know about the farmers' market on the first Sunday of every month.

Had a family gathering here for Mothers Day and we all loved Farm Cafe's food, was a bit hectic trying to get a table for a group of 10 but we just hovered and managed to nab one in the end. The food was divine, we all had the Farmers breakfast with perfectly cooked free range eggs. Great choice for the kids too along side good coffee make this a great way to start your visit to the farm. We will return just for the food!

Great surroundings! I've only ever been there for weekend breakfasts, so can't comment on the rest of the menu or less busy times. The food is good, a bit on the heavy side, servings very generous. The staff are friendly and helpful, but have been a bit overwhelmed the times I've been there so service has been slow. Still, I'll go again, and often!

We've only been there once and found it was horrible. We had to wait ages to order, then they forgot half our order. The food we did get that was meant to be hot was luke warm. We love the farm though, especially the guinea pigs.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. Weekends are pretty busy at the Farm and queues are sometimes a part of this, the food however usually reaches the tables pretty quickly and should be hot. I am upset that your order was not spot on and have passed your comments on to the kitchen team and wait staff. Please contact me if there is a way I can make it up to you.

My family and I visit the Collingwood Children's Farm and Farm Cafe frequently and have never been disappointed. We read with great surprise about the previous person's review as we have only ever found all the staff to be friendly, knowledgeable and efficient on all occasions. The food is always of a very high standard and we have often recommended the cafe to other people, who have also raved about it! We have also hosted and attended several birthday parties at the Farm and could not fault it. Good work Farm Cafe, we love you!

We just had our daughter's 5th birthday party at the Collingwood Children's Farm which was lovely. The big disapointment of the day was the Farm Cafe. We ordered platters of hot food (weeks in advance) to be delivered to the party (sausage rolls etc.) and also paid in advance. We checked in with them on the day and waited and waited for the food - when it didn't arrive and we went and asked where our food was and their response? "Sorry the kitchen doesn't know anything about it'. So no hot food at the party - only the picnic food we had brought from home. I am very thankful that we didn't order the birthday cake from them. The kitchen staff are slack and rude and the organisation of catering abysmal.

I am very sorry to hear of your poor experience at the Farm Cafe, especially with birthday parties it is awful when things don't happen as they should.
