I have been here several times, usually in a group. Upstairs is much better than downstairs, which is crammed and noisy. Service is really variable, depends on who you get. Waiters often seem to me more interested in gossiping with each other than serving customers.

The food needs a rethink, even the classics are a bit tired and not really well cooked/presented. I have been told the main branch in Kew is better, but haven't tried it.

Food was average, it didn't make me want to tell my friends about it or even want to go back there. I wouldn't say it was bad but just didn't come up to scratch for the price. The service was ok, staff not very friendly to us, we didn't get told the specials of the day but a favoured "regualars" table next to us did.
