We booked a table for four, a special dinner with my elderly parents visiting from WA and when we arrived, we were absolutely disgusted to find that they had set up a table in the courtyard on a concrete block right in front of the toilets with a mop & bucket next to our table!
Obviously they had just plonked a table in an area that is not usually used, just so they didn't miss out on the money. I have never been so insulted in my life and any restaurant that treats its patrons that way, does not deserve to be in business.
Heard about this place from a mate. Restaurant was heavily booked (believe this is a good sign). Place had a great atmosphere, food was to die for and they even had a service with a smile. Wine list matched the food nicely. Menu reflected the traditional "home style" Italian venue. No complaints. Have been back several times and each time the service has been the same. Loved the risotto and one of the best pizza bases going around. The warm olives are an excellent starter.
Tables close-set and restaurant can get very noisy. Fully booked for lunch. Smooth, unctuous but not outstanding oil. Rustic full-flavoured Italian regional fare, stuffed trotters on lentils, veal rib-eye with porcini, cacciatore with polenta. An outstanding lamb shoulder spezzatino. Heavy sauces but generous and full-flavoured.
Excellent coffee. Short focused wine list with very good options by the glass. $3 corkage BYO. A very good local.
Took me a while to get a booking for Saturday night but it was well worth the wait. Six of us shared pizza, risotto and a few interesting mains. The rabbit was to die for. A unique experience. We'll be back.
