The Meat Man (MM) has eaten here solo a couple of times. We came together on three occasions in 11 days. It is a few minutes walk from our Melbourne home. First on Easter day, as MM had checked they would be open and was sure we would not feel like cooking after a long drive.

Staff were friendly, food was excellent, service good. We returned on Wednesday for the special seafood menu. This was fabulous with beautifully fresh seafood, served just simply cooked and presented. Then on the following Wednesday we had the Croation menu. Cured meat plate for me to start, whitebait for MM (we swapped halfway through). Then the fish special for me and roast pork for MM. We accompanied them with a bottle of an N.Z. wine made in a winery established by a Croatian family, it seemed appropriate.

MM ate both desserts. Each occasion was a pleasure, we need to be sure of a few good locals, the move to a new city has sparked suggestions of visits by several relies.

We were impressed with this restaurant. The interesting menu certainly has clear Adriatic influences, including tripe (which we didn’t try!). We had the plate of starters for entrée, which included a selection of 6 dishes. For main course, the brujet (fish stew) and the beef cheek were both impressive and although the pork cutlet was good, it came with beets which I didn’t notice as being mentioned on the menu. The crepes for dessert were fine.

The wine list contained a number of interesting choices, and the service was knowledgeable and attentive. The room is impressive, and even though it has various hard surfaces, the noise level on a busy Saturday night wasn’t troublesome.

Dalmatino is one of the reasons why Melbourne has the best restaurants in Australia. The traditional Croation food is amazing, in particular you must try the Njoki (Potato Dumplings) in the non meat sauce, so delicious. My partner has polish background and this dish is almost identical to a dish her mum makes, Pierogi - we haven't been able to find it anywhere else in Australia. The menu is also quite extensive with many traditional croatian dishes available.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and all the wait staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The wine list is also quite good with a number of bottles on offer from various regions. We will definitely be returning for the Njoki alone - ordering multiple plates off it next time!

I also heard about this restaurant on SBS. All I can say, wow. Service, fast and helpful. Atmosphere, nice and relaxed. Food, good servings, great taste. Not to mention few Karlovacko's. This restaurant is how real Croatian restaurant in AUS should be. Highly recommended. (shame I'm from Sydney and can't come more often).

After seeing this place featured on an sbs program I was so excited to make a visit to it. The food was amazing, great selection of wines and I was so excited to finally have Karlovacko beer after a recent visit to Croatia. I also really enjoyed the knedle for dessert, exactly like my grandma's. No complaints with the service either. I really wish there was a restaurant in Sydney with comparable and authentic Croatian food like this. Definitely will be returning on my next visit to Melbourne.

I love this restaurant! The food, in particularly the fish stew, is delicious and as others have mentioned, the atmosphere and service is impressive and relaxing.
