I'm a big fan of Indian food, and the opposite of the curry club's food. I ordered a lamb korma, meat was fatty and chewy, rice was just standard boiled rice, had no flavour, was edible but that at the most. Definitely would not recommend going here what so ever, a place 5 minutes up the road in Kew, far superior.
This used to provide my regular South Asian curry fix. The staff are friendly but the food was always of variable quality and a few months ago seemed to be getting worse, especially after 10 pm. I stopped patronising it after experiencing a few particularly tough meat curries.
While my friends and I were attracted to the restaurant after seeing so many customers in there tonight, I felt dissatisfied leaving it. The butter chicken we ordered was too sweet, and the supposedly saffron "bryani" rice was mostly plain rice, dotted sadly with a few yellow-coloured grains. Although the Goan Chilli Prawns was delicious, the portion is too small for 20++ dollars price tag. Definitely not going back there again. Don't be fooled by the apparent good business of the restaurant.
Even though I arrived late during mid week I still had good service and a fresh enjoyable meal. The style of the place isn't much to write about though.
If you want to throw away your money, Curry Club is the place to be. This restaurant is a far cry from what it used to be in 2004. I ordered a chicken vindaloo and dal maharani. Both at least a day old. And don't even get me started on the service. Do not recommend!!
Well this restaurant was pretty bad. I've eaten here twice, and I remember both times well for all the wrong reasons. The puppodums actually stick in your teeth, the tandoori food was tired at best and the curries were plain average. When we left the guy at the cash register asked how the meal was. We said "It was ordinary" and he agreed with us. Try the place next door it's much better.
Food was shocking, limited choice and the waiter didn't have a clue about curry! starters were left due to the chicken being brown in the middle and the poppadoms were just like sharwoods packet ones, chutney, well I could have made better myself. Sauce on main meal was watery. Hope this isn't the standard of all Australian curry houses?!!!!!
