The food will appeal to a wide market and given the limited preparation space it is very good. The atmosphere and service were really excellent. Well worth a visit.

We went on a lunch trip, and greatly enjoyed it. Sure, it's not five star dining, but it is perfectly adequate and enjoyable with a choice for each course. The service was good, the wine and drinks (all included in the price) flowed freely and it is definitely fun looking out at the rest of the world!

Haven't enjoyed myself so much in ages. A really novel and fun night out in lovely surroundings. I wasn't expecting much food wise as it IS a tram, however, enjoyed all of my courses and found the service quite attentive. A great idea for a celebration. Probably not for you if you're looking for a fine dining experience.

We went on the Tramcar restaurant in Jan 10 for my husbands 50th with 10 other people. It was terrific. All of our guests agreed. Joe, the maitre d' was awesome. Very funny, entertaining and always on hand with drinks etc. All 4 staff were great including the driver. Would definitely go on it again and would recommend it to everyone.

If anyone says that the food is great well then you haven't eaten in a good restaurant. The food is microwaved. When I went it was warm outside, the butter on the table was melting, so can you imagine how it is with the food, not very healthy if you ask me. Aircon wasn't working.

We attended the early sitting on Thursday and found this a bit rushed. The wine did not flow in fact it was miserable, starting with 1/3 glass of champagne with no top up, them 1+1/3 glass of shiraz and a thimble of liquer. People across from us had to chase up coffee as they missed out. I am no big drinker but an offer of more would have been a nice touch. The food was very nice but in the style of top restaurants a little light on in quantity. A reasonable evening but left a little disappointed in the overall value for money.

Fantastic night out. Make up an excuse to do this. I'm from Melbourne and my wife and I try to do this every year. The food is great, and the waiters are attentive, amusing, but not annoying (as some can be). You'll need to book well in advance 3 months+ for the Fri/Sat late dinner. And I would recommend booking a hotel in town afterwards. Why? because the waiters are very generous with the wine, and you will never get to the bottom of your glass. Unless you're very careful you will end up drinking more than you should. Hence the hotel room.
The ambience in the tram is great, very "Orient Express". And it's great fun eating while the sights (and people) of Melbourne go by as you make your way through the suburbs, from the City, to Middle Park, Hawthorn, Balaclava. Did I mention this is a fantastic experience. Do it.

We really enjoyed our late dinner experience. The food is good (actually very good considering most of it is pre-cooked, frozen and then heated up on board with convection ovens). I particularly enjoyed the pate appetizer and the cheese platter. But you wouldn't dine on the tramcar for the food alone, it really is for the entire unique experience. Five courses, and with all drinks included (local wines, spirits and liqueurs) it is great value and a lot of fun, for tourists and locals.
