Great steaks! The bottom level wasn't open Friday night so we were at the bar level which was more of a bistro feel, however, still classy enough.

400gm rib eye was perfectly cooked (MR) and the chips as others have noted divine. Onion rings were not as expected, thin red onion pieces lightly fried a la tempura style and very moorish. Value for money wine list and great staff so we shall be back.

The best eating experience I've had in ages. The restaurant had a cosy urban atmosphere, the service was professional and most importantly the food was delicious! It was truly a restaurant I was glad to stumble upon and will definitely be back for more. I highly recommend the Black Tiger Prawn Kebab entree and the eye fillet with mushroom sauce.

Excellent food, really couldn't fault the steak. The only reason to not give a 10 is that I felt they were a bit "sauce" happy, with the sauce being basted on the roasted veg. However, the bone-in rib eye I had was an excellent piece of steak, perfectly prepared.

Was fairly quiet, so no real opportunity to create much atmosphere, however, the service was great as a consequence. I thought the cost of the steak was on par, given it's quality, however, the cost of the sauce and veg was a bit much. Regardless, overall it was what you'd expect to pay given the cost of rent, and quality of meal.

Great salmon and tender ribs, will try the steak next time. Service is a bit slow, however, worth the wait. The staff are very friendly. Overall great value.

I've been to Grill Room in the City a few times and was never disappointed. I think this is one of the best places to have steak in Melbourne. The marinades are just fantastic as well as the sauces.

The food was decent however I object to restaurants who offer you extras and imply they are included when they are not. Eg, we were asked 'which sauce would you like' when in fact the sauce is $4.50 extra. The service in general was fairly ordinary and the music was too loud.

I have been to the City Grill Room twice now and both times have had excellent service and enjoyed the food greatly. On the most recent occasion I booked for a group of 30 and almost everyone enjoyed their food, only two complaining, one that their steak contained too much fat and another that her rare steak was barely warm. Everyone who had the ribs loved them, that is certainly the dish I'd recommend.

I found the staff very accommodating and the food reasonably priced. Their wine selection is good and the waiters happily make recommendations. I was impressed that having only visited the restaurant once the waitress who served me remembered me. A very enjoyable experience!
