This is surely one of Melbourne's best kept secrets!. A Donovan's view without the Donovan's price! In addition to the unadulterated views of Port Phillip Bay and Half Moon Bay Beach the food is honest and tasty. The menu is unpretentious but still sophisticated. Take all your friends here because the place is just brilliant. A real taste of Melbourne at its best.

You can't beat this place for location, sitting high up over Half Moon Bay with a view out over the wreck of the Cerberus and Red Bluff cliffs. The room is light and airy and maximises the view, it is a very comfortable place to be and the floor to ceiling front windows open up in good weather.

Service is very friendly and quite prompt, it goes with the relaxed, beachy feel of the place. Drinks are all pretty well priced and you can BYO with $8 corkage per bottle. Meal prices are a bit on the high side given the quality of the food (mains $24 - $30).

And the let down here is the food. It's not that it is bad, just inconsistent and a few dishes they just get completely wrong. I had the Calamari entree and the Seafood Linguini main. Both were pretty good, especially the Linguini. My wife had the Prawn Cocktail and the Tempura Flathead Roulade both were very ordinary. The Prawn Cocktail was way too sweet (the taste was reminiscent of a banana paddlepop) and the Tempura Flathead had a strong "fishy" taste that was either stale oil or not very fresh fish, certainly not the taste of beautiful flathead flesh.

It's a shame because this place could be so right. I will go back because the atmosphere and venue did make up somewhat for the dishes that were not so good. And my tip to anyone going here would be stick to the simple dishes, pastas, fish and chips, steak and give dishes that sound a bit more complex a miss.
