Concur with Detritus in a way that this is 'refined' Italian food. It lacks a bit of punch but on the other hand the flavours are still very much intact. Its not in your face typical, robust Italian food but it amazes with its cooking.
I must say some meat or fish dishes didn't amaze me as much as the Risottos and Pasta dishes here. Quite simply put, I have NEVER had better risottos in Melbourne. Not Grossi Florentino, not Lygon street shops, not anywhere else. Its amazing.
Only giving 8 out of 10 because some dishes aren't too exceptional. Overall, however, its impressive atmosphere and food, certainly better than a lot of pretentious places.

Awesome restaurant. If you love food that a European mother would cook this is the place for you. The Abbaccio lamb is unbelievably good as is the asparagus entree. Really impressive attentive staff seasoned in good old fashioned service. The bill is reflective of the quality of care given to the food, the service and the ambience.

Nice food but a bit too refined in that it lacked the flavour punch of good Italian food.

Dined here with 3 friends. Flawless and discreet service. Good food. Rather expensive wine list brought my rating for value down.

We have eaten at this restaurant three times now..mainly because when in Melbourne we stay at the Langham Hotel and its close to our hotel.The restaurant is expensive but the food is excellent with a lovely setting looking over the Yarra River...its a great restaurant for tourist and local interstate visitors.
