As a casual visitor to Melbourne we have tried quite a few restaurants. We decided to go upmarket and got it. Food and service were very good. The wait staff were knowledgeable and helpful and answered our questions about selections perfectly. Service was the way we like it - not too long between courses. We enjoyed wine by the glass as we were driving and would have done justice to a bottle and the breath testing. The prices are on the high side but I would say you have to pay for better than average service and food.

Food - Awesome! Ambience - nice underground setting but a little loud. Service - one of my faves in Melbourne, all male and very attentive but not in your face. Value - all in all a golden favourite for me.

Maybe I am getting old and cranky but this place just doesn't cut it. The food is "executive entertainment", the pricing takes your breath away and the wine list is extensive italian with a serviceable local list of vic wines marked up to make your eyes water. Come here for a business function with a platinum card but don't come here for the food. At half the price it starts to make sense as an italian home kitchen. No sorry - move on.

The oysters were fantastic for entrees. The mains were average and pricey. The desserts were definitely the best. But the service was pathetic. Disappointed with the service!

We have always love the restaurant, have been coming for years. This, however, has changed. On the other hand the food and service from the staff was wonderful. A young lady who I assume works in the office was the most pleasant thing about the experience!

We had Georgio as our waiter, he has been there for 8 years (very rare to find this). He guided me on what to have, even though they had no canelloni, which was my first choice. The kingfish entree was the only disappointment because it was covered in lemony orange citrus, too much! other than that, the rest of the meal was exsquisite. Seafood linguini was great, the new dessert creme caramel was divine.

We really enjoyed our experience here. The food was so lovely, subtle and elegant italian. Dolci was amazing, I had the Mille Feuille of Hazelnut Praline Semifreddo and chocolate mousse which was so good.

One of the key things that I think is indicative of a very good restaurant is the longevity of service of the wait staff. I have been going to Cecconis regularly for about the last 2 years, and over that period I'm pleased to say that there are still many familiar faces waiting on the tables.
I am yet to have an experience at Cecconi's that is anything less than excellent. It is my choice of restaurant when dining clients and important personal occasions. The food is excellent, very well priced for the quality and quantity received. The daily specials are always well worth a try.
Service is extremely attentive without being over-bearing, the waiters are knowledgeable, passionate and not afraid to make a suggestion. They go the extra mile to ensure each guest has a memorable experience. Well recommended. Perfect 10/10.

Love the service at this restaurant which has been attentive and friendly each time I've been there. Found that our meat dishes became a little 'sameish' after by the end but agree with Iruka that pasta dishes are wonderful. Not too expensive compared to some other places and has a good atmosphere.

Concur with Detritus in a way that this is 'refined' Italian food. It lacks a bit of punch but on the other hand the flavours are still very much intact. Its not in your face typical, robust Italian food but it amazes with its cooking.
I must say some meat or fish dishes didn't amaze me as much as the Risottos and Pasta dishes here. Quite simply put, I have NEVER had better risottos in Melbourne. Not Grossi Florentino, not Lygon street shops, not anywhere else. Its amazing.
Only giving 8 out of 10 because some dishes aren't too exceptional. Overall, however, its impressive atmosphere and food, certainly better than a lot of pretentious places.
