After eating here previously we had decided to bring along some guests, we were looking forward to some traditional Italian pizzas. Much to our disappointment we were served the thinnest "pizza bases" we'd ever eaten, and the toppings were just as miserable. Pasta dishes were over cooked and soggy. Prices were above average... won't be coming back again!

Homely, authentic, rustic. Have been here many times and have not been disappointed. The pizzas are delicious and the entree tasting plate for 2 is the perfect starter and well priced. Service is good and very friendly. It's not silver service but nor is it intended or expected to be.

The pizzas here are gourmet, awesome and reliable and because of the Spelt flour allows people intolerant of wheat to enjoy as it's easier to digest. However, because of the gourmet nature, if you're a big eater you will need one per person. It is one of the best kept secrets of the Fitzroy locals (as I was for 10 yrs) who sometimes like to avoid the hustle and bustle of Brunswick St. But make no mistake, it's still a homegrown pizza, pasta restaurant and is suitably homely.

Menu was interesting and the food we got was quite tasty, without being stand out exceptional. The ambience was as expected, bustling and busy due to hard floors and furniture.

The service was less than expected. When I asked the waiter for a half carafe of wine he had no idea what I was talking about. I had to explain it to him and show him the menu. He admitted to being new, but clearly had no knowledge of the menu either when we ordered our food. We had to show him on the menu what we wanted.

Also, we were seated at the table before it had been wiped and cleared fully which is a pet hate of mine. When our entrees arrived we began eating them awkwardly with our hands thinking it was expected to be finger food, but then later realised that cutlery was in a container on the end of the table. A bit embarrassing and not entirely their fault, but letting us know the cutlery was there would have been nice.

They didn't give us water when we were seated which is ok, but even after I asked for it they forgot. Overall an average experience, I wouldn't totally condemn it but neither would I go racing back there.

The owner is incredibly welcoming and kind, the food is rustic, authentic and exquisite, the setting is rustic and cosy and the prices are reasonable for reasonable services. I've been here three times and will continue to come. Try the parmesan and pesto focaccia, pepperonata pizza and the wood oven roasted chicken breast with vegetable and cheese cannelloni, and for dessert, the tiramisu with biscotti ice cream. These are things I've tried but everything on the menu looks delicious.

We had our daughter's christening here and enjoyed the day immensely. Robin and his staff were so helpful and friendly, throw in great food and wine and you've got yourself a great afternoon!
