Campari Restaurant is a lovely and relaxed waterfront dining place at Port Melbourne. The place has a wraparound bay side deck, so dining al fresco is recommended. At Campari, you can drop in for some coffee or doughnuts or have full meals. The menu abounds with appetising dishes from all corners of the Mediterranean—Spanish, Greek, Italian and more. You can try the homemade pizzas, risottos, pastas and salads. A good selection of Spanish tapas as well Greek-style lamb and Portuguese-style rotisserie chicken are must-try dishes. Choose from beers on tap, signature Campari cocktails or any wine from the Australian and Mediterranean vintage wine list. The ambience at Campari is fun and lively, sophisticated yet relaxed.

I dined here recently with work friends. It was a Tuesday night and besides us (7 people) there were only 2 others. You'd expect the service would be great, we were very disappointed.
The food was ok. I ordered a salmon with potato chats meal. My salmon was cooked perfectly but the potatoes were bland. One person ordered the paella, which was wonderful and another ordered the pumpkin risotto which was horrible. I would dine there again, although I'd make sure it was a Friday or Saturday night with more people and a better atmosphere.

We had lunch at Campari on a Saturday and, although the restaurant was not busy, the service was very very slow. We waited almost an hour until our entrees were brought to us and would wait almost 10 minutes if a drink was ordered. The food was average and for that price certainly was not good value. I do not recommend Campari.

We were disappointed to find that despite calling ahead to book and check the menu for 1 gluten intolerant and 1 vegetarian member of our party, the menu had completely changed when we arrived one week later. It gave those two people significantly less options and was much more casual/cafe style than the one we were given.
Service was very slow and inattentive and restaurant did not meet our expectations of a classy restaurant, which is suggested by the website/online menu/prices. In fact many people were in thongs/beach wear despite the dress code sign at the door.
Also, cakes were pre-made factory slabs of the regular suspects, mars bar cake etc. Not worth it.

I have been here twice. A few weeks ago MM and I had a very pleasant Sunday lunch, good service, steak done rare (as requested) for MM, fish of the day for me, wine and coffee for both of us. While not exactly cheap, we are used to the effect of proximity to water on prices. Last week sister-in-law had a casual lunch. Two pizzas, two glasses of wine and two coffees came to $30, a bargain for the excellent pizzas.

We had lunch here with my two young children. Great views, plenty of room between tables, very relaxed ambience. Food was very tasty and pretty good value. Started with dips and bread, great dips, esp the beetroot, enough for three people, not quite enough as a starter for four. Three of us had pizzas (6 large slices each, thin crispy bases, just enough topping) and one child had excellent crispy pan fried salmon fillet with vegetables.
Two pizzas between three would have been ample and would have saved $18! Side salad was excellent and generous serving for three people for just $8. Beer and wines are a bit too pricey though. Service was irritating and very very slow, waiter asked us far too many times if everything was alright, possibly fishing for extra drink orders.
All in all, in view of the brilliant location and good food, a pretty enjoyable experience and would recommend to any who don't mind waiting a long time for lunch!

I had a birthday lunch with 30 guests only yesterday at Campari. The food was fabulous, the service was outstanding, and the place is beautiful! A Perfect day at a wonderful establishment and I'm a very fussy lady.

I held a function for 30 people at Campari on the weekend. We could not have hoped for better service or food! I would strongly recommend this venue to anyone who enjoys beautiful food, views and top notch service. I will definitely be returning...soon!

Taken to lunch there by friends who live locally and who have been before on Sat, 6 Feb 2010. My wife and my first time and we weren't disappointed. Ambience was brilliant. Bit of a buzz in the air as a cruise ship was docked and preparing to leave. Had the saganaki and calamari entree. Fantastic! My wife had the whole baby snapper, she loved it! Other orders included the Gnocchi, very good and the Seafood paella.
First time I've had paella outside Spain that tasted this authentic and included scallops! Only complaint is that the paella was huge (for lunch) and could easily be shared by 2 people. Did find the waiter somewhat pushy and abrupt but in spite of that enjoyed our almost 4-hour lunchtime stint all without feeling 'encouraged to leave' by any of the staff. While my latte was above average the rest of our party did not enjoy theirs (one was a decaf latte). Would definitely go back there!

We were looking to host a luncheon for 23 people recently and upon calling to enquire about the booking, we spoke to an extremely rude person who said he unsure of whether he could make a booking for 23 people. When we asked to be put through to the events manager he grudgingly passed the phone on to the the events manager saying "some curry muncher wishes to make a booking for lunch for 23 people"!
Clearly the staffs' mannerism at Campari is absolutely appalling and to think we were trying to provide them with business! Needless to say, we will never be going back and will actively be discouraging everyone else who plans to. Whilst I will be sending through a formal letter of complaint, we just wanted to ensure that everyone considering visiting this place who might wish to read up on it before visiting, is aware of what they are getting into.
Had we read through all the reviews for Campari here, we would never have bothered calling them!

To describe Campari in one word, that word would be disappointing and with a capital ‘D’!
To set the scene, we visited Boxing Day holiday and were pleased that the dining area was around half full. Meaning that the service should not be too lengthy. We ordered the trio of dips for entree followed by the Portuguese Chicken. We were told by the waitress, “there was no chicken…” So we settled for the Whole Baby Snapper for my wife and a Medium-rare Scotch Fillet for myself with a bottle of Chalice Bridge Shiraz.
From thereon, the disappointment really set in. After waiting over 30 minutes for the mains to arrive after clearing the entree plate, we were further disappointed. While the entree was "just" and the snapper would be described as “mediocre”, the Scotch fillet cut was identical to that sold at a supermarket - tough, sinewy and very ordinary. To add salt to the wound, I’m convinced the chef (I assume) is not aware of the term medium rare as the steak was well over done. But the final word came from the patrons at the next table noting the hair in their cheesecake.
Finally I concur with Vinmag’s review of March 10 citing rude senior staff. Patrons take note of the “Fine Print” on the menu advising of the 10% surcharge applicable on public holidays. The fellow who we discussed this with was, rude, arrogant and totally convinced that we were “well informed” of the surcharge. I mean it’s right there on the menu.
We are very much into the restaurant scene and like Vinmag, we too are minutes from Campari. We will not be returning and would encourage others to avoid this venue that is far short of a restaurant. At the end of the day and even though overpriced, the only winner was the wine.
