Inside is stuffy without adequate airflow while you wait for at least 40 minutes for your food. Not to mention the view was spoiled by being seated next to a completely smashed window. Even though the menu said the pancakes were 'home made' waiters said they were 'out of pancakes' which did not impress us after we had ordered them.
Our meals began to arrive after 30 minutes, and after other customers, who arrived after us, had already been served. Two of the four meals arrived. One was sent to another table, which we became aware of later. The waiters tried to cover this by saying the "food would be there soon". The two people dining with us finished their meals before ours arrived. The waiters sent one of the meals to the wrong table for a second time and after the customer complained, they took it to the kitchen, poured more sauce on it and then served it to us with visible marks from where the other customer had cut the food.
The other meals were cold and unsatisfying, there was a hair in the eggs and we could not use our drinking glasses as they had lip marks on them and had clearly not be washed properly. Waiters did not acknowledge or apologise for any of the mistakes they made. The only positive was that we were not made to pay for our meals.
No, no, no! This continues the poor quality at so much of Docklands - formulaic dishes, described in intricate detail but with absent ingredients when it finally arrives. Fair service. Good view. Poor value at any price. Lygon St by-the-bay.
I recently had dinner at Medici cafe. The service wasn't particularly great nor the ambience, it was a very canteen sort of place. But the chicken parma didn't disappoint, and the chips are always a perfect side-dish.
The waiters here are some of the most arrogant and surly I have ever seen.... with no good reason either!!! (it's the Docklands for god's sake!). The food was particularly average, the local pub would be a better bet... how hard is it to stuff up a parma? Steak sandwich... ummm where was the steak? I couldn't find it under all the doughy bread.
Each time I go to Medici, I am seated and served promptly. The menu features a large selection of tasty meals, which make it a great choice for a group meal. Additionally, the prices are most reasonable, given the locality. An amazing choice for breakfast too!
