We went on a tuesday night. The service was bad, slow to take our order (even though the place was empty), slow at clearing plates. The up side food came out pretty quickly (makes me wonder if the food was preheated in a microwave). The wait staff were talking amongst each other instead of taking our dessert order, which didn't bother us as we decided to have icecream at home.
The senior staff was too busy chatting away to customers to notice what his staff were doing. One word of advice get some decent wait staff. I would only go back to get the calamari but only as takeaway.

Bad service, bad food did I mention the bad service. Place was dead and the wait staff did not look like they want to be there. The senior staff looked disinterested and unmotivating. Will never go there again.

I had my first lunch here two weeks ago, calamari and pizza - fantastic! I then went back to try their breakfast - what can I say? I had the veggie breakie with a side of bacon that was cooked to perfection! My sister and I were blown away by how clean the food was. No greasiness or seeping juices here! We even drank our plunger tea without the need to wipe our cups! We are going this Sunday to try dinner. Will let you know the outcome. I have a hunch this place is going to be my next home.

My family had the misfortune of dining at Cafe Matto on Sunday for lunch. Well, can I tell you I had the smallest bowl of Minestrone soup I've ever seen for $10, my husband has the big breakfast (which was not that big!) for $15. When I complained upon paying the bill about the size of the soup, I was told that "most people thought it was too big", what a load of rubbish, my kids have a larger bowl than that for their morning cereal. also, perhaps, it would be a good idea to let your staff know that they should be watching the customers and not the Olympics on TV, won't be back and will be telling everyone I know not to bother too, remember you're in Heidelberg, not Carlton!

I enjoyed my dining experience at Cafe Matto. I found the service was fantastic, the waiters were very friendly and bubbly. I ordered the calamari and I must say that it was delicious. My friend ordered dessert the chocolate mint ripple. It looked so irresistible. I will definitely go back!

Thought it might be nice to take my wife here after this cafe had won the chopping block. The service was good, however, the meals, unfortunately, were not. 2 out of 4 meals were not cooked properly. The chargrilled chicken tasted boiled and the minestrone was too peppery. The bread with the soup had something green on it. Avocado we hope!
The wedges were the edible standout! Found the owner extremely indiferent when paying the bill and there was no offer of a reduction for the poor quality of food. To add insult to injury I worked out when I got home that they had also overcharged us for this experience. Would not go back!

This has to rate as one of the worst eating experiences that I have had. Char Grilled chicken that tasted boiled, 2 other meals that weren't cooked properly and when mentioned to the staff no discount was given. In fact we were overcharged about $10 !!!!
