Our first time at Florentine was amazing, we was quickly greeted at the door and taken to a table. Our drinks arrived swiftly and our dinner order was taken without delay. They had just launched their winter menu and I thought the quality of the food was outstanding, they have an extensive wine list that complements their seasonal menu. We will definitely go back.
The lamb rump dish I ordered was appalling. The lamb was tough and fatty, and was served with peas and equally fatty pieces of pancetta swimming in a thin dark brown mixture. It is the most visually unappealing meal I've come across na restaurant in a long time Despite leaving most of this inedible dish and pointing out to the waitress that the lamb was disappointingly tough, there was no apology and I was charged the $31. I will never go back to Florentines again.
I am a repeat offender for many reasons. I am a Dairy free gluten free diabetic and I still manage to receive a good meal, because the food is cooked for you, fresh good produce and a great wine list, the specials are to die for and the service is so attentive and friendly, even on your first visit you feel like a scene from Cheers. The place kind of reminds me of a better value Botanical. Love it.
The food was fantastic but portions are quite small, especially the steak dishes which means you have to buy additional side dishes. I thought it was excellent value for money. 1 x starter to share, 2 x mains, 1 x side of fries, a bottle of good red wine and 1 x dessert = $100! We got one dessert free as the maitre d' asked us to move tables at one point. It has a lovely atmosphere and is candlelit. Advise you to book ahead though.
