I have to recommend the Vanilla Slice, made in-house and delicious. I called in for a coffee and noticed the vanilla slices on display. I thought "that is too large, I need a friend to help me tackle one of those babies". After resisting for a few days with a vanilla slice calling me, I went back. It was well worth the visit (and the anticipation). They were happy to cut one in half, so I had half with a latte and took the other half home, only to return a few days later to buy several.

I go out to cafes and restaurants quite often and nothing beats a nice quite cafe with good people and wonderful foods. When I happen to call into this cafe it was a delight, friendly services and always welcoming to everyone. I had come in to get a Coffee (supplied by Coffee MIO) had to wait no more than an average coffee wait (under 3 minutes) so I sat outside in the sunshine to watch the main road.

What came out was a surprise, A Tasty, Creamy double shot latté with a picture of a fern made out of the milk the coffee had a sweet but strong taste and I thought to myself whilst looking at this well rounded coffee "this place might make good food as well as a nice coffee".

So off I went up to the register where you need to order than pay, and asked the friendly young lady (good looking I might add) "If I could order a Thai Chicken Burger with the lot". It came with all the trimmings, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, on Turkish bread with garlic yogurt and sweet chilli sauce.
So back to my seat to wait, And wait I did for a whole 5 minutes (less time than I have had to wait in Lygon street Mcdonalds).

The taste, Wow! Has something for every1 from chilli flavour not chilli burn to fresh herbs this was what I had wanted to fill me up, When the good looking young lady came out to collect my plate I had to ask where they got these made and she told me almost all the food is made in house.

Next time I am in the area I will have to try the Large range of cakes and sweets as some of these I was informed are made in house as well. If you have a chance to get in here do it! 39/40

Having had many community events to cater for and feeling it is important to support local small business we were excited to find Cafe Z. All the food homemade and of great quality. Brilliant array of sandwiches and tasty treats.Always approachable and always affordable.Being a community based organisation we note with interest the young students who are supported and trained through the business. Quite a Gem.

My recent trip to Cafe Z was certainly an eye-opening experience. The visit did not start well as the cashier decided to serve the person behind me first. I was then unable to find a clean table at which to sit and had to move dirty dishes myself. A quick survey of the cafe showed several other dirty tables. But that was nothing compared to what came next (or didn't).

Whilst waiting for my coffee and food, I amused myself by watching the waiter attempt to make coffee. After a few minutes, he decided that this was too difficult and poured himself a drink. He proceeded to consume it in full view of the diner. The waitress convinced him that a long black was not beyond his ability, so he set to preparing one. He then delivered it to the wrong table.

After another five minutes (I'd been waiting 20), the waitress realised the mistake and made him prepare another. He delivered this, wiped his hands on his pants, then decided to have something to eat (again, in full view of the patrons). I watched him serve some takeaway customers without washing his hands.

My food still had not arrived (the total wait time for a sandwich was 30 minutes at this stage). The final straw was when the waiter wiped his nose with his bare hands and proceeded to prepare food. It was at that point that I asked for my money back. Thankfully, this was returned without protest. When I left, the tables were still dirty and other customers were becoming similarly impatient. Quite possibly one of the most disorganised, lacklustre places I have had the misfortune of visiting. Never again.

Cafe Z is one of the best Cafe's I have ever had the pleasure to dine, chat and relax at. The service provided is above and beyond my expectations of a small urban business and the food is exquisite, I my self have been to nearly every Cafe and restaurant in Melbourne and its surrounding suburbs due to my career and this beautiful escape is extremely relaxing and soothing, it is in my top 5 list. The coffee is extremely well made as well. Keep up the good work.

I am a great fan of cafe Z and eat there regularly. I love the tai chicken burger and salad, the haloumi and zucchini fritters or the delicious stuffed peppers. The staff are really friendly and efficient! Zulal has catered my 5oth and my husbands, both were a great success. Coffee is excellent and we always feel welcome.

I had a truly awful experience here. A comedy of errors. Firstly I ordered a non-toasted chicken foaccia from the menu and the clumsy waitress came out with a ham and cheese one. I wouldn't have minded too much except that I am lactose intolerant. I told the waitress this and she said there were no chicken ones left but she would make me one up and it would take a few minutes. No problem I said. She came out with a chicken andcheese foaccia, again toasted where I had requested it to not be.

My girlfriend who was there with me had no problem with her food, but had ordered a cappuccino, which came out looking way more like a flat white if you ask me. The waitress didn't seem clued onto the fact we weren't happy and didn't apologise once.

I don't think the cafe its self is to blame here, mostly just this waitress.

Food is good at this place, but the place itself needs updating. It's not welcoming and too many styles clash, bit worn out. Service was friendly but unorganised, sometimes forgetful.
