The food is not the best vietnamese food I have had in Melbourne. Service was decent, and I guess it was because they didn't have many patrons (especially when you compare to other restaurants in the area which were packed with customers). We were one of the only three groups on a summer Sunday evening there. The price is high for vietnamese food.

Not quite sure why Cafe Saigon is rated so highly, I would suggest the other reviewers don't get to Victoria Street Richmond or Footscray that often. I found the food rather bland and, perhaps, the worst Vietnamese I have eaten at in Melbourne (as opposed to the best as one reviewer claims).

The staff were lovely and attentive and that always counts for alot, but after some of my other amazing Vietnmase dining experiences in Melbourne, I felt rather let down. My partners pork belly dish actually came out as braised pork meat and my seafood combination dish was nice but lacking taste. The quail entree, however, was delicious. Great location and would certainly appeal to those diners who prefer their asian more western. Found it to be a bit on the expensive side too.

I could not fault this restaurant on anything. The menu was amazing, the service fantastic, the food was sublime. Highly recommended was the sizzling fillet steak and the spicy calamari. The 1 hr parking is a pain, we had to move the car several times, but we did arrive at 7 pm, and waddled out after 11 pm, full to the brim of the best Vietnamese food in Melbourne.

What an absolute treasure! Food and service great. Sunday Yum Cha is good. The only let down is the lack of parking on a Saturday night.

It is indeed a little treasure. It's been a long time since I've experienced such good service! Each and every one of the waiters was friendly and well-versed in the menu (and were able to make good recommendations too!).

Great tasting Vietnamese food. The duck salad is excellent. Good use of chilli in dishes. Nice location and setting. Very good service - most accomodating. It's good to find that it's BYO as I like to take my own wine when dining. Will visit again.

Nice to look at when there's a tram goes by etc. Not that far from the beach.

It was just great! The staff were especially friendly, met this really polite waiter named Mervyn, he was one of the best waiters I have ever met. The owner of the restaurant, Sally, was very warm as well. I just can't stress enough how wonderful this restaurant was. Had a ball of a time! Thanks guys!
