Wow. Living just across the street for a short time while I worked in Melbourne, Cafe 58 became my go to place for dinner when I didn't feel like cooking. On my first visit I let Van take the wheel and order for me, and it was so worth it. The best Thai beef salad you will ever have, it is like no other. And the green curry, out of this world, it had an almost bluey tinge to it and I couldn't even compare it to any other green curry. Vegetarian rice paper rolls are something special. So sad that it's in a different state to me!

3 hungry people, cold Melbourne night, perfect choice for dinner. The bare decor was a bit startling on entry, but soon dispelled by prompt and warm welcome. Entree of rice paper rolls was good but standard stuff. Mains of green mango salad, stuffed mushrooms and green curry soup were all excellent. Hearty sized meals, great taste, will be back.

One of my favourite restaurants. The service and food are excellent and their seafood pad thai is better than any Thai restaurant I've tried.

It is just not only food, it is a kind of relaxation. I have tried many Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne, but hardly could I find such a restaurant that has both great asian cuisine and nice service like Cafe 58. Many thanks to Van and his wife!

I got to love the food here. It is amazingly beautiful. Having nice Vietnamese style food and walking along Johnston st or joining a Spanish Flamenco Bar are just my favourite on weekend! Staffs here are friendly and professional. The owner guy is lovely too!

Food is absolutely great and its service is uncompetable elsewhere. I really enjoy amazing Vietnamese cuisine and its warmest hospitality there. Van, a nice owner, and his wife, the chef, make up a lovely team at Cafe 58, together with their enthusiastic and professional staffs. It is normally busy over weekend, but the satisfaction and happy smile will always be with you there. Come and try, and I am sure that my good comments on this restaurant will be undoubtedly true!

Best Vietnamese restaurant I've eaten in by far. Staff will adjust the menu to your taste. Very friendly and great value.

For vietnamese thats a little bit more up market than Victoria St, this place is amazing. Everytime we eat here the food is excellent, one of our favourites is the special, green mango prawn salad, delicious!! prices are good but not as cheap as vic st but the quality of food is much better.

What a find! - wonderful friendly service, best I've experienced in years. Food was very tasty without being overspiced, good meal sizes and good range on the menu. Extremely cheap and great value. Will be going back regularly.
