I was lucky enough to stumble into this place during a lunch. A very different set up for a restaurant but very cozy once you are seated and having a great time. Enjoyed some pizza's, calabrese and a seafood one which I can't remember the name of, between the two of us. Both absolutely delicious! Very good service, ambience and a really nice setting right in the heart of Melbourne's amazing CBD. If you're ever around Bourke St, you need to dine here at least once!

    Pizzeria. Cafeteria. Rosticceria.

Situated between two Heritage buildings, The Melbourne Post Office & Myers, their beautiful sandstone walls become the interior of this extremely unique restaurant. Overhead is a retractable canvas roof, that opens for the loverly sunny days and warm evenings that Melbourne is famous for, so romantic on a starry night.

Gentle background music, friendly chatter, pleasant staff, create a very inviting ambience. Outside on the pavement, there is another large appropriated dining area, in the midst of entertaining Bourke street, ideal for people watching. From the specials board we ordered Moreton Bay Bugs Pappardelle with bisque and fresh diced tomatoes, hot spicy and delicious.

From the excellent menu, we also chose, Seafood Aglio Olio Linguine, light, tasty, well balanced and presented, accompanied by appropriate wine. The desserts were a triumph, Vanilla bean pannacotta, with caramelized peach in grappa, White chocolate and bailey's semi fredo, with a warm raspberry tart. This is fine dining in a casual setting, with affordable prices. CA de VIN Restaurant is a must visit.

Love, love, love! We had olives to start, too many for two people to eat, but delicious with beautifully toasted sour dough. The pizza was quite lovely and the lamb shank soup with truffle oil, was amazing. Perfect for a cold melbourne day. We loved all of it. Highly recommend.

Decently sized meals, friendly staff and a magnificent menu. It was so difficult to choose just one item!

Picked out of tourist literature, not disappointed. Ambience, service, and food were excellent. First time, not the last. No Legs NSW

Looks very nice, atmospheric and warm, but we were disappointed by the food. We ordered 2 main meals and 2 entrees. The first main meal was a $26 ravioli filled with haloumi from the main course section of the menu. Sounded great on the menu, but when it arrived there were only 3 medium-sized ravioli's that were only half-filled! Furthermore, the taste was off, the ravioli was full of mint (far too much) and we couldn't taste the haloumi at all, if there even was any. Very disappointing.

When I asked the waitress whether there had been a mistake and I'd been given an entree size, she said in a condescending tone of voice, "No, that's the size. Would you like to order another entree?" How rude, expecting us to pay even more!

Stopped at ca de vin to share a quick snack. It was worse than ordinary. After a very long wait we got the worst bruschetta ever - stale cold bread and flavourless soggy tomatoes that tasted as though they'd been left steeping for a couple of days. Wouldn't bother going back.

Have been here on several occasions over the last month when visiting Melbourne, have visited with large and small groups. Everytime service has been exceptional. Wonderful food on every occasion and the ambience of the restaurant is exceptional. Must visit for the pizza alone.

Was in Melbourne for 5 days and went to Ca De Vin twice. The service was top quality. I recommend the duck ravioli and the ragu. The pizzas were awesome. We had one with mushroom, goats cheese, spinach, truffle oil and balsamic reduction and another with pumpkin, pinenuts, napoli, rocket and honey. The pizzas are big and 2 was enough to feed 4 of us. This is definitely a place I'll be back for again.
