My 9 year old daughter loves this place, she somehow manages to polish off a whole massive schnitzel by herself. I like the beer and stuffed schnitzel, husband loves the soup and mushrooms - one happy family!

Recently had a Sunday lunch at Budapest. I had long salivated over the menu on-line, so I guess my expectations were high. I am a great schnitzel lover and the range sounded marvellous. I chose my favourite, plain veal then added sides of spinach and nokedli. The schnitzel was enormous but quantity does not make up for lack of quality. At $29 I expected much more. The crumbed coating was dry and tasteless and the veal so thin that all you could really taste was cooking oil. Deep fried schnitzel should be avoided in my opinion.
All good schnitzel needs to be pan fried. The spinach side was ruined by far too much garlic, and was stone cold. The nokedli was sticky, cold and tasteless.
My daughter fared much better with her choice of Veal Parmigiana as the topping of sauce and cheese softened the veal and made it moist. Her side of Hungarian Potatoes was really delicious, and the garden salad was reasonable.
My husband has teeth problems at present so needed something really tender. He consequently chose the Hungarian Goulash. However, this was quite tough and disappointing. We had planned to stay on for dessert and coffee, but decided it might be wise to have this elsewhere. The service throughout was excellent, but the food very disappointing. We won't be back.

I love this place! And being half Hungarian myself, I find the food to be quite authentic. Everything I have had is lovely, the chicken soup is SO good and you'll love the cucumber salad.. very refreshing to have with a rich and hearty meal.

Visited with my family on a Tuesday evening. Attentive service. Good lighting, liked the building, we had a table downstairs. Slightly cramped and loud downstairs. For this Budapest Restaurant gets a slightly lower score for atmosphere. We booked for 4 at 8 and didn't have to wait. Good parking at rear.
Food was sensational. Entrees were liver, Camembert, mushroom crepe and smoked salmon on a latke with potato salad. All were absolutely delicious. Mains were stuffed cabbage, stuffed capsicum and Camembert. All were very much enjoyed. Stuffed cabbage definitely a highlight. Finished the evening with apple strudel, apricot dumplings and cream cheese crepe.
We all rolled back to the car after a great meal. For the quality of the food, I think very good value for money.

My wife took me here for my birthday last week and I have to say without a word of a lie that I loved everything about this place. The food was hearty and delish (schnitzel filled with kranksy), the service was great with the waiter very friendly, helpful and courteous. This is probably my new fave restaurant, I loved it that much!
The only small disappointment was missing out on live entertainment which used to be every tuesday but is now once-twice a month. All good, we'll definitely be back and will bring people with us!!

We ate here about 18 months ago and really enjoyed the meal and I have been waiting for an opportunity to go again. It was Father's Day and, therefore, busy, but what a disappointment. Although the entrees we chose (fried camembert, cevapcici, chicken liver and onion and a pancake) were ok, their "famous" schnitzel was dry, over cooked and tough. To add insult to injury, we ordered a "paprika" sauce which was nothing more than a tasteless gravy and cost $6 extra. Won't be going there again.

It was very busy on the Friday night we dined at Budapest and we felt the service was a little rushed and that we had just been crammed into a corner table upstairs. Otherwise the service was ok. A big menu and generous servings. The food was pretty good and very hearty. The liver-stuffed crumbed mushrooms were nice, the goulash was a bit disappointing.

We stumbled across 'Budapest' for an unexpectedly early dinner (after our movie at The Classic was booked out) and made the most of the 'Happy Hour' deal where a selection of mains (including generous sides) were $14 each!
The food was delicious, very traditional and hearty. The serves are large and as much as I would have loved to try the sour cherry and walnut strudel for dessert, I couldn't fit it in! H had the Goulash, delicious as the beef was incredibly tender and high quality cuts too. I had the crumbed chicken livers which were tasty and worked well with the Hungarian potatoes on the side.
Above all we were impressed with the beer and wine selection. The beers in particular were a really interesting mix of Czech, German and Belgian brews. We will definitely go back to 'Budapest' soon!
