We went here for an anniversary and because they claim to have gluten free options well we were the only people in the restaurant and I know why. The staff were watching and listening to us the whole time and it clearly wasn't gluten free. I am coeliac and was very sick after eating here. It tasted ok but very over priced and Not worth the pain of my allergic reaction.

I was very disappointed during my recent visit to Bopha Devi. Although it was a reasonably busy night, that is still no excuse for making us wait 2 hours for our mains (we didn't even get entrees!) and then another hour for dessert. On top of that, 2 of the 3 desserts available were sold out! For what we ate, I think the prices are very unreasonable, frankly, from this location you don't even get the stunning waterfront view which you would enjoy at almost any other restaurants in Docklands.

The staff were okay, although one fellow was rather rude and intimidating, and it took them more than 40 minutes to finally come and take our orders. Their food was not so much Cambodian as it was Cambodian-style, the food lacked the vivacity of the originals and in general, were fairly average. Also, there seemed to be a few problems in the kitchen, with the first main arriving after we'd waited for about 1 3/4 hours, and the last two came more than 45 minutes later, when everyone else had finished eating.

Unfortunately, the same thing happened with the desserts and we were 1 1/2 hours late for our next appointment which was supposed to be at 8:15, we didn't leave the restaurant until after 9:30, and then we still had to walk to the next place. However, the serving sizes were fairly generous, although I do still maintain that they were overpriced for dishes so lacking in innovation and flair.

In particular, the desserts were particularly bad value, $14.90 for a banana coated in a thick layer of coconut and rice, and then grilled, plus two scoops of what was clearly supermarket ice cream. Nevertheless the place has fairly nice decor and moody lighting but the crashing from the kitchen sort of destroyed the ambience.

Cool, funky place to eat, but its close up and personal seating so don't expect intimate tables for two. Great service but we had to select 3 times before they found a wine on the menu that was actually in stock. We came away, enjoying the feed, but feeling the overall bill wasn't justified.

An "OK" Restaurant for a group get together. However, won't recommend for a romantic/intimate dinner experience. Our Valentine's dinner did not go well as even when booking was made we had to share with another couple on a table of 4. Food was not as authentic as expected, but the taste and flavors were not bad.

Mains arrived before we were even done with our entrees. When bill arrived without us asking for it (I was expecting a dessert menu and some coffee) it felt like we were in one of those cheap eateries where they just want people to leave as soon as they've finished their meals, so they can get more customers in. I certainly did not expect this here, we just could not relax and eat, everything was rushed through.

People don't go to restaurants just to eat, we were in and out of there in less than 2 hrs. We'd rather have gone to a cheapie, would have had the same food and service, only 100 $ cheaper.

Bopha Devi was a nice restaurant and I would recommend this place for dinner with friends or a laid back dinner with a partner. I went here for an anniversary but I felt the place lacked the ambience and intimacy for a romantic/special occasion dinner. I would go again if I was with a group of friends as the place is pretty trendy. Food was good not great. Good wine list.

This is the 2nd Bopha Devi in Melbourne and does not disappoint. As an avid fan of Cambodian (and Asian in general) love the trendy atmosphere coupled with traditional food.

Being a Cambodian, I know what real Cambodian food tastes like and although the atmosphere is very trendy, the food was very disappointing. I was hoping for something authentic to show to my interstate friends but in the end I was having to tell them (for some of the dishes) that this was not it was supposed to taste like at all. I think it is because they are afraid non-Cambodian people won't know how to eat the real flavours which can be quite strong and hence the tastes were very watered down and bland. They need to be more adventurous and make the food the way it should be instead of how they think people want it to taste.

Great food - the flavours are amazing. Friendly service and intimate and cool fitout. One of the best in NewQuay.
