The Blue Room in South Melbourne. Has all sorts of good meat dishes but for vegans, any of the Napoli pastas work and you can make them gluten free for an extra three bucks.

We shared a pizza and made it have vegetarian half vegan (just removed the cheese) - awesome light base with snow peas, roasted veggies included red peppers, pumpkin and artichokes. We also got chips (confirmed not pre cooked in animal fat) beautiful and crispy with a gourmet tomato relish dip on the side.

You simply have to try the pizzas here! They deserve the best pizza award from the melbourne food and wine festival.

Had a mid-week lunch there and totally enjoyed it, as well as my freinds. Cozy medium-sized cafe with mostly Italian-inspired menu and a woodfire pizza oven.

Between us, we had penne with slow cooked lamb, baby spinach and feta (very good though could have had more than only two or three little cubes of feta), mushroom risotto (rich and creamy), a pizza (very decent) and a Caesar salad (nice, well presented with a perfectly poached egg and anchovies on top).

The cost of their lunch special (a listed main + a glass of wine or soft drink) is $16.50, and it was well worth it. Pizzas are around $16-18. Our waiter was attentive and the service was quick. They also gave us "two pizzas for the price of one" vouchers for the next time. We will be definitely coming back, and more than once.
