Fantastic service, waiter very friendly, informative and attentive. Best Malaysian food I've had in a long time. The entree Otak Otak and Squid were both amazing and the Rendang Duck was also very good. Prices are more than fair for an upmarket Malaysian experience. I'll definitely go back.

The food is not bad, however, the service was slow and the waiter had our order wrong and we waited more than 45 minutes! The senior staff was also very stuck-up when I tried to explain the situation. Would Not go back there again based on the service alone!

Nice little restaurant that was very accommodating of our pram. A group of 7 and not one of us left disappointed. We all ate entree, main and dessert, with some sticking with true and tried classics and others venturing out to taste things they'd never tasted before. We really got into the 'asian way' an although ordered our own meals there was a lot of sharing going on.

There wasn't a bad entree tried at all on our table with the squid, curry puffs and the parker's gems were the outstanding dishes. Mains were all fantastic although the signature dish, the triace duck, was voted as being over rated more so to do with the over powering sauce. The king prawns were delicious as was ever rice and noddle dish consumed on the table.

Desserts were a little hit and miss. All were well presented but most had very distinctive flavours and textures so they were more an adventure and 'glad we tried' than 'oh that was awesome'.

The place has a bit of character with pigeon holes filled with grocery items and some random knick knacks on display. You can see into the kitchen and everything looks above board. It is rather dark and they certainly make use of every bit of the little space.

The staff all had their own character, the top waiter (possibly the owner) knew everything on the menu back to front. One of the Malaysian waitresses was entertaining but it was due mostly to her 'greasies' and short comments, oddly enough it just added to our night. A great place to eat!

My group was impressed with the delicious food. Upmarket Malaysian. The duck in a tamarind sauce is fantastic. Enjoyed all our three mains. The gula melaka (sago pudding) needs work as it was lumpy and hard but overall this place is a favourite.

One of my favourites on Brunswick St. The curries, laksas and the Tofu Salad are all delicious. Have never had a problem with service here.

Blue Chillies is one of my and my hubby's faves in Fitzroy. The last time we went there was about 3 weeks ago, and every time the food was yummy. We go there for their beef rendang and thrice-cooked duck. The best duck dish ever, highly recommended and well worth your money.

Had the same thing happen to me as to 'fooder123". First time round I was allowed to take my meal with me (due to a kindly staff member). Second time round was told a firm "No" by a rather arrogant person who turned out to be the senior staff. Tried a third time but didn't even get to the ordering stage because of the other senior staff. Do these guys know anything about customer service?

Their attitude severly disappoints which is a real shame as the food that comes out of the kitchen is quite good. Maybe the senior staffs should take a hint and either stay home or come in after all the customers have left. Wine list borders on the pathetic side and even when offering to pay for corkage they steadfastly refused to let me go buy one.

Needless to say I will not return, such a shame. By the way "fooder" if you insist on taking your meal home they can't stop you, pity I only found that out recently.

The management attitude is bad. We loved the foods there but we have ordered far too much, at the end of the meal we had 2 dishes almost untouch and asked the senior staff for a take away container and he gave a legal lesson that under such and such F/B regulation that take away unfinished dish is not allowed and in very unfriendly way, afterward he never come to our table.

We've been regulars at Blue Chillies on a Sunday afternoon for approximately 6-7 years. We've never been disappointed by the food or service. It's hard to go past the "Thrice cooked duck" and “Laksa". The staff have always been pleasant and attentive. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

This has to be my favourite haunt on Brunswick St. Food is out of this world, thrice cooked duck is a must and the laksa is the best.
