Bistro Vue is modelled after the celebrated bistros of turn of the century Paris. Fresh flowers, velvet chairs and vintage furniture lend a traditional and classy ambience to the bistro. Indeed, the best way to enjoy classical French dishes in small but elaborate portions.
There are a number of top quality fish, meat, seafood and vegetarian choices in Bistro Vue's entrees and mains. Pair them with a bottle from a wide selection of French wines. Scrumptious dessert and cheese options wrap up the meals at Bistro Vue. Dining at Bistro Vue allows you to savour old-style French cuisine in a cosy and unhurried atmosphere. Just like in the back streets of Paris.

Had a fab night at Bistro Vue on recent trip to Melbourne. Really great service and fab food. Thought it was really good value for money and have recommended it to friends when they visit Melbourne next month.

Fantastic food and very good value for the quality of the food. The steak tartare and the French onion soup were both delicious entrees and while the lamb was a great main the confit duck was a standout, smoky, tender and beautifully cooked. The chestnut mousse dessert was also exceptional!
Wine menu was a little shallow at the lower priced range but nonetheless had some great options. Service was great, but it did border a bit on the too casual, especially from the staff.
All in all, highly recommended for a fantastic dinner with friends. As a romantic dinner (as I had), perhaps, it is too much of a bistro but nonetheless very enjoyable.

Disappointing. Tried to book Monde but being a public holiday settled for the Bistro. A pleasant waitress took our orders but, unfortunately, we had a surly, pompous, unprofessional waiter from then on when we could get his attention.
All our dishes were served with a watery, tasteless side of spinach. The entree sardines on toast was a little pricey at $28.
The decor, however, was pleasant. After enjoying Maha on Christmas eve this restaurant was disappointing but there was little choice on a public holiday.

Bistro Vue provided the perfect saturday evening for me and my friend as we celebrated her visit to melbourne. Foie Gras wrapped in brioche and it was absolutely rich and delicious. The soft shell crab was the best one I've ever had. The mains (duck and cube roll) were cooked perfectly, my steak was a perfect medium! and the highlight was definitely the Tart Tatin - they were not joking when they claimed that many said it was the best Tart Tatin anyone's ever had. My friend and I were making so much sound while eating it, we were like Meg Ryan in when Harry met Sally. Creme Brulee was average. Our waitress was amazing! Sweetest, most helpful, and let us try the bordeaux cabernet merlot, which then we bought the whole bottle to enjoy. I will definitely be going back!

Bistro Vue's decor and ambience is perfect for a cosy and relax night.
Entree - The French Onion Soup was excellent and delicious but the I prefer the escargots to be soaked in hot garlic olive oils in a hot plate. Not only for the frangance and flavour but great for any bread lovers who enjoyed dipping the baugette into the left over garlic oils.
Mains - Truffle pasta was not cheap ($38 for a extra small serving) but pasta was cooked al dente with good flavours. Confit Duck was cooked very well but no suprises.
Desert - opt in for a different desert to souffle. I chose the Mandarin mousse, mango and kiwi with coconut sorbet. It was very refreshing indeed.
The night had turned out great and we will be back for sure.

Couldn't get a table at de Monde so opted for the Bistro. And it's fine. The whole 'French' decor thing I'm not so convinced about, felt a bit like a theme park. But the food is good and the service is good too, so who's to complain.

Very good food and service in a pleasant restaurant. Service was pleasant and efficient. The food was very good and the decor warm and European. It is the toned down version of Vue Du Monde, but still is worth a visit (if you can't get into its big brother Vue du Monde).

Crumbed schnitzel was huge for one person to eat. Cube roll meat was declared one of the best meals ever eaten. Both were served with its own pot of bernaise sauce, and the beef came with huge batons of roasted potatoes. I enjoyed my lemon madeleines for dessert and, unfortunately, didn't leave room for the candeles, which will be the next big thing after the cupcakes and macarons.
Unfortunately, we were seated in the corner and one of us had to face the 'naughty corner' for the whole meal. Bistro Vue needs to rethink its table settings for couples, seems to be geared to large groups of meat-lovers.

Best French Bistro experience in Melbourne. Perfect steak, great wine selection. Service is smooth and the wait staff some of the best I've had. I was dining alone, and the French waiter bring me some current magazines to read with my dinner. Order the steak you won't be disappointed. Even the toilets had a French Bistro feel to them. Truly a great experience.

Walking in here transports you to the French countryside, from the exposed beams on the ceiling to the beautiful crockery and cutlery and the live piano accordion player sitting in the corner playing Edith Piaf songs. What a beautiful way to spend an evening.
The food was mostly classic bistro food done very well, my partner’s steak tartare came with all the traditional accoutrements (although most were already mixed in) and his duck confit was crisp and tasty. My only disappointment was the truffle pasta I was looking forward too was lacking in truffles, it was still a nice mushroom pasta but not for $37.
The waiters were all very friendly but I was surprised by their lack of wine knowledge. I asked some details about one of the Bordeaux wines only to be told the sommelier had explained these things to them recently but she had forgotten.
The standout of the evening (apart from the accordion player) was the desserts. The tart tatin was the best we have ever had and presented with the drama shown at Vue de monde next door. The chocolate soufflé seemed underwhelming by comparison but would have been amazing if we hadn’t had the tart as well.
We will definitely be returning here on our next trip to Melbourne!
