Great location for a Sunday lunch. We had a bit of a mishap over the booking but apologies were made and otherwise service was always efficient and helpful. In particular, we appreciated being able to sample the wine before ordering. Food was competent and safe but hardly awe-inspiring. This is reflected in the prices, which are fair value for what you get. The wine list is reasonable in terms of range and prices.
Berth is amazing. Wonderful staff, great food, amazing location. Wouldn't recommend it for a function though, as I have found you seem to have forgotten about upstairs. Other than that fabulous restaurant!
I approached Sunday lunch here with the family with some trepidation given previous Dockland dining. Most dining areas at Berth have a lovely view of the harbour. Seated promptly and immediately given water and menus.
Whole baby snapper done with baby thyme was fine, but the accompanying 'nicoise' could have done without the commercial mayo. My wife had a grilled chicken and panzanella salad, one son the chicken schnitzel. Ok winelist, keeping the by-the-glass selection tight.
Attentive service for a busy lunch. Not a culinary wonderland, but at least the food is edible. Pleasantly surprised.
Food - I ordered the Antipasto for Starters, Salmon for the mains, and Lemon tart for dessert, must say each course was well prepared, good proportioned, and very tasty. Ambience - A little dimly lit for, but the harbour views compensates for everything. Service - we had a very friendly girl wait us, excellent service. Value - Aptly priced for the serving sizes and location. Will I revisit? Absolutely! Highly recommended.
I've attended this Restaurant numerous times, and have been reasonably happy on most occasions. The food is decent although nothing fantastic, it certainly doesn't offer a lot of flavour. As for the ambience, fantastic water views, you're basically sitting on water and the restaurant is kept very clean. Service has always been very good, always attentive and polite. Value for money, reasonable to slightly over priced.
Considering the location, this is possibly one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. We had bruschetta to share which was badly presented and impossible to eat, but tasted ok. I then had the Linguine Marinara which was flavorless, overcooked, watery and basically inedible so I left 3/4 of it on the plate. The fish and chips was edible, but nothing to write home about. And with 6 wait staff available, I have never felt less serviced.
We were there on a Saturday night for dinner. It was not very busy when we got there as we had a 6.30 pm booking. We were seated very quickly but had to asked for the menus. The website boasts of spectacular views, however, the views were marred by very dirty windows as we sat at a table by the windows.
The menu was very boring, giving us very little choices. We had a bowl of wedges and fried calamari as entrees, the wedges were on the edge of being called burnt and the calamari was tasteless and slightly soggy. We ordered beers but we were served the bottles and the cold glasses, expected to pour the beers ourselves which was something I did not expect from a 'classy' restaurant.
The presentation of the mains could be improved. I had the chicken involtini which was ok but the tasteless potatoes that accompanied it was pushed to a side. My husband had the whole baby snapper which tasted like very plain. I could have cooked the whole dinner at home without having to drive all the wa to the Docklands for it. We left without having dessert even though I am very fond of desserts. Thankfully, we did not have to pay for dinner as a gift voucher covered the cost. I don't think we will ever go back again.
I agree with Minkie and ho1528. Location and service are fine. For Dinner: food is very ordinary and this lets them down. Breakfast: food is okay, but breakfast is a pretty easy meal not to mess up!
Fabulous location. Lights not working - very dark atmosphere. Amazing that management had not even thought of candles on tables as an alternative. Desserts good but main course boring and lacking in flavour or clever use of ingredients.
Had sunday lunch here 4th May. Had the most fantastic Anti pasto platter ever. Lovely variety and plenty to eat for two. Wines by the glass very reasonable, service very good even though the place was very busy. Will visit again when next in Melbourne
