I have not been to Bar Corvina in a while (since the transfer of ownership) and have found quite a few major differences in the menu and the winelist. The food quality is much better than before and I got excellent service from the bar and also the wait staff.
The prices are very moderately priced and I will definitely visit it again sometime soon.
My sisters & I visited this restaurant with friends and must say we were very disappointed. Three of our party ordered the Garlic Prawns and the other two ordered different entrees, when the entrees were served only three dishes arrived, we were short two servings of Garlic Prawns when we enquired where the other two were, the waitress said that we should have been given side plates as you only get one prawn per serving as they are jumbo prawns - add to this the fact that the prawns have not been peeled at all.
To add insult to injury I ordered the Chicken from the nightly specials and it arrived half cooked and without the promised garlic mash potatoes - staff were apologetic and stated that a fresh meal would be served within ten minutes - 20 minutes later I asked them to cancel the order - then to put the icing on the cake. One of the other mains was missed altogether. The wait staff did their best but overall it was appalling and very disappointing as this was a very special occasion for us.
Possibly the worst food in St Kilda. Entire wine list as described on the menu was unavailable on our recent visit, and even some of the replacement suggestions unavailable also. Frozen seafood and average pasta. Nice room, friendly staff.
A long term fan of Bar Corvina. Great food, reasonable wine list (although not so extensive as the earlier days) with good selection of wines by the glass. Good ambience, only slightly lacking in high turnover of floorstaff.
