Balti is one of my favourite restaurants. Wyn (who wrote the other review could not be more wrong). They have really good Indian music and the staff are really friendly. They are happy to just chat with you which is rare. All the meals are served in traditional copper, wooden and brass dishes and containers and the meals are fantastic!!!

The meat is great and the sauces are delicious. Admittedly the placemats are slightly tacky, but not dirty! You probably thought the service was ordinary because you didn't take the time to talk to the staff. Great meals are: Malai Kofta (which are spinach and ricotta balls), chicken pakora (which are like chicken nuggets but with a really thin batter and spiced with cumin) and any of the chicken meals (butter chicken, balti chicken (the best in my opinion)). The staff appreciate that you are there. That's it in my opinon.

We had a very plain meal here - the meat was inedible, the placemats dirty and service ordinary. You can get much better Indian in other places in Melbourne - this isn't one of them.
