The Atlantic is the quintessential Melbourne dining experience showcasing seafood in its purest form. Contemporary and minimalist, this modern fish brassiere and oyster bar replicates the sensation of an authentic seafood market. Diners will be overwhelmed by the visual feast of fresh fish of every variety on display and their taste buds will marvel at the unparallel quality of fresh seafood, encompassing wild and sustainable fish, unique oyster varieties and pristine shellfish.
Never before has there been such a powerful combination of seafood procurement and culinary genius with fish monger Con Andronis and acclaimed Chef, Donovan Cooke joining together for the extraordinary seafood restaurant The Atlantic.
A true ocean to plate experience.

This places just oozes class and professionalism. The staff looked sharp and they worked together like a well drilled team.
I had no idea this restaurant was a one hatter until reading up on it after our meal. I can totally understand why they have received that accolade.
There was so many tempting dishes on the menu we opted for the degustation with matching wines. The first couple of dishes were extraordinary, that being the Spanner Crab with Golden Beetroot and the Pork Belly.
To finish off the 6 courses we had one of the nicest desserts I have ever tasted. It was the spiced cassonade which was basically a baked brulee with blueberry compote and baklava wafers. Killer dish and perfect way to finish as the meal sizes were extremely generous for a degustation so a decadent rich dessert would've been a struggle.
Overall we spent $450 between the two of us, however, the food was fantastic and the wines were perfectly matched in my opinion. You couldn't expect too much less in terms of cost at most award winning restaurants.

The oysters were fresh, salty and perfectly yum, the scallops served with a wasabi mayonnaise were my favourite and the bug and crab were a pleasure!
The staff were, as they should be, well presented and pleasant, the perfect level of attention and detail.
We enjoyed cracking into our crab and digging in for the last morsels, we also shared an particularly lovely simple salad with grilled figs and the bread and olive oil were top class, more please!

Walked in without a booking asked if a small pram and an infant were ok. Girl at the front desk was very welcoming. Had some lychee martini in the bar area while waiting for a table, (these days most restaurants in the city make you wait for a table even with a booking so they can get more money off you for pre dinner drinks). Then we were shown to a table. We had a good meal great service and a great evening. Can't understand why people complain about the bill as its not hidden and you obviously order from the menu and the price is right there. So you know how much it cost you any way, I agree that the wine is way over priced in city restaurants which makes you not wanting to order more than a bottle.

I was in a party of 12 celebrating a birthday in August. We met in the Den for pre dinner drinks, then after a while were shown to our table in one of the semi private alcoves. The food was just amazing. The service was great, with the attendant giving us a rundown of each course. Absolutely amazing and I look forward to going back again for a special occassion.

Had high expectations for this much talked about restaurant in the Crown Complex. Was greeted in a cold manner by a male who hardly looked at us let alone smiled. Took three people to get us to our table and not one of them was in any way friendly. We were then seated in an area called The Den which felt like a thoroughfare rather than a table with any degree of ambience.
Once we made it to our table it took 35 minutes for our first drinks to arrive although another 15 minutes after that for the bubbles. Not a good start to the night.
The waiter who took our orders though was very attentive and made some excellent suggestions. The food ordered at our table of 8 was excellent with every single person at the table commenting how much they enjoyed their meals.
The wines although a wide selection were highly over-priced. Overall a good night but not a great night. Would be hesitant to go back again.

The food was good and the seafood platter was brilliant. I love the fact that every time I walk by the menu is different and that you will never have the same thing. Just the right amount of flair and class in the creations.
However the service was terrible when it came to paying. I was charged someone elses $500 bill on top of my own without my knowledge or approval. Took a week for them to refund the money without even an apology. Definitely not going back.

Enjoyed a huge degustation with matching wines. The food was delicious and filling while the service was remarkable. The ambiance was wonderfully intimate and the whole evening was comfortable and pleasant. The bill came to $520 between two people which was a little unexpected but we had such a good meal, I tried to not let the price taint the evening. I would recommend anytime.

On arriving our table wasn't ready so we were taken downstairs to a lovely lounge area where another group were waiting, 40 minutes later we were the last ones there despite many groups arriving after us and then being shown to their table quickly, not a great start as it is now 9.10 pm.
Finally shown to our table after much apologising and it was right by the window which was open and overlooking the river could understand why the people before us took so long to leave. We asked for two glasses of Belle Epoque champagne which was available downstairs, (not available in the restaurant), disappointing but chose something else.
Onto the food, what can I say, it was sensational. Oysters were so fresh and had the salty taste which we both love, my husband had the crayfish salad which he thoroughly enjoyed and also the Barramundi which was smoked and then steamed, amazing flavour. I had the soft shell crab which was in the lightest Tempura batter followed by the fish and chips which were really quite good, wasn't a huge fan of the chips though.
For a restaurant that has only been open a week there are obviously going to be some teething problems and once they get the booking system sorted out it is certainly going to rate highly on my list of favourites, will have to remember to order a glass of Belle Epoque downstairs and hang onto it until the table is ready next time though.
