Decor: Pleasant and comfortable (Hot outside - 33C or thereabouts), but cool inside! Service: Prompt and friendly...although, as we arrived latish..they seemed to heap the courses on a little too quick!...But still acceptable! We ordered the $25 banquet, and I think it was not a bad choice. On arrival we were served complimentary marinated bean shoots (again I'm guessing - rice wine vinegar and ginger)...regardless it was cool and refreshing and made the palate sit up and beg for more!
Soup was Miso Siru - Soy bean paste soup - a definite hit. Next course was the Sashimi (raw fish) and California roll - superb. Tempura prawns and vegetables followed and were splendid, very lightly battered prawns and vegetables that were still crispy...a nice touch! Next up was Agedashi Tofu - deep fried bean curd in a light soup with bonito flakes, although palatable, there was not much going on here to stir up the taste buds. The next course was Ika - Yaki (Squid grilled in a lemon butter sauce with shredded carrot, onion and rice vermicelli) - not a great success this one...it was a bit dull and flat.
The sensation of the night was Teriyaki chicken...beautiful and crispy with just the right amount of soy and salt. Served with Gohan - steamed rice. For dessert we had green tea ice-cream...interesting...I enjoyed it. We had a choice of instant coffee or green tea to finish, so I opted for the green tea. A good value meal very enjoyable and highly recommended.
