Went there for my mom's birthday, my parents are fussy eaters but they loved the food here, service was excellent.

Enjoyable experience! I took my girlfriend to the Lygon street restaurant Amigos about 2 weeks ago, the restaurant was full but staff managed to find us a table inside. We received a warm welcome from a very young waiter who still looked as if he was at school. As this was are first time at a Mexican inspired restaurant we had plenty of questions to ask the youngster and he was able to take the time out of his busy schedule to enthusiasticly answer any questions! Very quick to follow up and was very polite and attentive, I might add that his Chicken and Mushroom burrito suggestion was ACE, whilst my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her chicken fajita.

Food is slightly overpriced but makes up for it in taste, excellent drinks range (especially tequila). However, the lighting could be slightly brighter but never the less we look forward to dining here again shortly in the near future! Thanks for the experience guys!

Finally a Mexican restaurant in Melbourne done right. Right in the middle of scenic Lygon Street, this is a Mexican lovers treat.

Food: Excellent, this isn't your standard chain Tex-Mex restaurant food that most Aussie's are used to, this is prepared with care and creativity. Full of flavor and texture, you'll never think the same way about Mexican again. (10)

Ambience: For those sick of crazy crap on the walls and being surrounded by token sombreros and ponchos, relax. The atmosphere is much more intimate with a very modern decor right on Lygon Street. My only complant would be that it does get busy. (9)

Service: Although the staff are very friendly, it does get busy. I also get the feeling that the dishes take a while to prepare. So be prepared to wait for your meal. (7)

Value: At the end of the day, yes, you will pay probably around $3 to $5 more a meal. But to honest Mexican is usually over priced anyway. Having said that, it's really not that much more than you'll pay at a suburban restaurant, but the quality of the food will be ten times better. The drinks are pretty standard city restaurant prices.

Overall, if you love Mexican, this will raise the bar for you. (9)

Terrible experience. We rang on 30/12/10 to book for New Year’s Eve. They informed us they would be open till 11pm. On arrival they told us they want all customers out by 10 pm. They actually started rumbling the chairs, cleaning the floor 9:30. We were rushed and almost pushed.

Suggestion: avoid all chain restaurants. Go to small nice places where they try harder.

Give this a miss! Not a good experience: the waiter had an attitude, the seating was uncomfortable, the food overpriced, the roasted vegetables weren't roasted and they didn't provide a takeaway option. We quickly realised why they call it mexican Inspired food, it certainly isn't authentic mexican and there is coriander on Everything!

Very disappointed. The food was average at best and twice the price (but not twice as good) of going to a local Taco Bill. Charging $3 for a small dish of sour cream when you are paying $24 for a meal seems a little over the top. $19 for a smallish plate of Nachos and $15 for a bowl of chili con queso and some corn chips is just a joke. No wonder we were the only ones in the restaurant. Charge a reasonable price and watch the restaurant fill. Keep charging the current prices for disappointing food and they will be out of business soon. Wouldn't recommend and will not be back.

Would not reccommend any eat here. The service was the worst I have ever experienced, they should have paid us to eat there. We were constantly having to engage the floor staff to get drinks, entrees, mains, more drinks etc. Taco bill for me from now on.

Great food! Have always loved it ever since the first time going there. Was disappointed one time when they ruined the deco on our cake then charged for cakage...they also charge for extras so it can get a bit pricey. Good food tho still.

My husband and I have been there several times, and each time it has been quite enjoyable. The staff has been polite and fairly attentive. The service isn't the fastest, but good food can't be made in 10 minutes. The drinks are a little pricey, but that can be said about almost anywhere. Though make sure to try and get a res. Just showing after 5 is likely to get you seated outside, (which is nice if you don't mind the smoking) if you get seated at all. I would rate it 10, but I'm picky as to what I would label "perfect".

Excellent food, great service, wonderful cocktails and friendly staff.
We had the chicken and chorizo enchiladas which were on the specials board, and they were fantastic. Definitely will be back next time we're in Melbourne.
