I just want to thank every one who helped to make my night one of the best nights out I've ever had. The atmosphere was great with an outstanding service that suggested to have the devine seafood banquet. Trying it is an absolute must, the whole fish with the generous tahini topping, the scallops is amazing & the best of all is the king prawns with the fabulous fattoush salad ( traditionally made ). legends of almazette thank you again. Simply, I'm craving to be there soon.

One of the most sub-standard meals that I have ever had. Bullet prawns with little flavour, salad mostly vinegar, reheated, discoloured, over-cooked beans, fish tasted of sour yoghurt that over powered the flavour. Service was poor as they didn't make sure our order was correct and received wrong prawn dish. When we asked for salt to add to our starter, was told that "too much salt is not good for you". I found this strange. This is not the same standard as two years ago when we enjoyed the food. Won't be going back.

We were pleasantly surprised. I had the grilled fish with rice and the prawns. For entree, we had the aubergine dip and bread. The ambience was sensational and we had a great time. I felt it was a little short in the prawns but it made up for it in other areas. Thoroughly enjoyed, would recommend.

I went last night for the first time in a couple of years and immediately wondered why I had left it so long to come back. This is my favorite restaurant in Melbourne. The food is just to die for, the service is wonderful, and value for money outstanding. $42 for the Mezza and I could not possibly have fit another crumb in my mouth. I would go every week if I didn't live so far away.

Almazett is the best lebanese restaurant I have ever been to. I have been going there for the last 15 years for my birthday every year and I couldn't be happier. The service is amazing there is always a friendly face to welcome you and the waiters are more than helpful.

The mezza is great but be prepared for a mountain of the best quality lebanese food you can find, so don't go too hard to early as there are much more delights to follow. I have never had a disappointing experience there so I'm not sure if the person who reviewed it below went to the right place, because in my experience I cannot imagine that ever happening.

After reading the reviews here about Almazett I was dying to try out the food and finally the time came last night when we made it to caulfield north from the western suburb just to try what the fuzz was about.

Well I was excited to try what the "table full of food" aka mezza experience was like but despite its advertisement of "we will give you food until you can't take it anymore", we tried to order more food after the "tasting" period has past, however, when we tried to order more, the waiter was telling us that we couldn't order more as "they don't have food" anymore but then when we enquire the same food to "takeaway" they said yes they can do it, so all in all we kind of got ripped, and the misadvertisement was very misleading.

I don't know whether it is only us that had a very bad luck, or they treat everyone the same, but I really was disappointed, I don't think I've ever had a poorer service in a restaurant before, the gap between each meal was 20 minutes and with them telling us that we couldn't order more food, was really upsetting, so for anyone that experienced the same please post your experience to stop people getting ripped off like we did.

I was very excited to try before tonight, infact I was willing to make this restaurant a regular eat-in place for my family, but after tonight I guess I should find a more welcoming place, hope this review helps.

The food was the best value for money. Delicious, more than generous portions, and healthy home cooking style.

Here we go. Where do I start? It was decided one night that 6 of us would all enjoy a quiet evening out at Almazett. It was to celebrate and farewell a couple of our friends who were to leave the country for a year. This night was meant to be special.

We all walked in, some for the first time, some had graced this fine restaurant before. We were greeted by a nice young man, who kindly ushered us to our table. As he began handing out the menus I thought I would save him the effort and just ordered 6 mezza meals. Now for those who haven't been there, this is the only way to go. The chance to order as much food as you want was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

So the meals arrived in very quick fashion (probably because it was 6 pm). The first meal that our kind waiter served us was the pita bread with hommus and baba ganoush dip. For people who haven't been to Almazett before to fill up on pita and dips would be classified as a ‘rookie error’. Some of us were seasoned veterans and we knew that there was plenty more food to come. The falafels were brilliant (ordered 4 dishes of it in the end) and the meat pastries with pomegranate sauce gave the course that little bit extra.

We were then served some chicken and sausages which we all agreed could have been better. Not letting this entree ruin our appetite, we soldiered on and began with the main courses.

In between constantly pestering the waiters to bring out another meal and engaging in idle conversation about our day we wondered where the music and even belly dancers were? Much to our chagrin we found out that the belly dancer didn't work each night. However, I noted to the table that this had been one of the many highlights that Almazett offered.

The main meal came out. First up was a beautiful bed of rice entwined in chicken garnished with a sprinkle of pine nuts. A truly exquisite dish (touted by one as "the greatest rice they had ever tasted"). Lamb and chicken skewers were complemented by a nice side of tasty beans. This truly was an experience. As we digested the array of flavours imbuing from these meals it dawned on us that we had forgotten to order the famous lemon drink.

This was an obligatory drink when fully experiencing a meal at Almazett. After most of us had eaten all we could, we moved onto the dessert. This is what separates Almazett from other Lebanese restaurants. One person on our table said that the Turkish delight was “heaven-like” and another said that “if this was their last meal, they would be satisfied”. The baklava was exceptional and the coffee at the end capped off a truly wonderful and memorable experience.

4 hours later after walking in, we could not eat one more thing. We had tried nearly every single meal on the menu and most people couldn’t loosen any more buttons on their pants, so as to give themselves anymore eating room. We got the bill and it came to about $40 p/p. We agreed it was quite reasonable for the amount of food that we had ordered.

The expression on the waiters face after we had paid the bill was relief as he would have agreed that our table had ordered more meals than any other table in the 50 years Almazett had been around. In short, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The incredible value for money, serene ambience and superb food would make me want to return.

However, it would be advised if going at dinner time to not eat for the whole day. This will give you with enough room to fully experience every single dish on the menu. Top effort Almazett, 9/10.

For the first time in a very long time have we enjoyed ourselves like we did at Almazett's. The staff were friendly, the restaurant clean, the food was tasty and plentiful, and very reasonably priced. Finally had a good meal out. Would recommend this place anytime. We will definitely be going back there to eat.
