Decided to try after reading online reviews, but was disappointed. Two of us ordered a main course each to share, plus raita and bread. The food was uninteresting in its presentation and insufficient in quantity. Taste of all was bland. Filled up on bread. Some of the bread pieces were tough, suggesting they had been reheated. I have eaten excellent Afghan food - this was not. Pleasant decor and ambience but go further afield if you want to do justice to Afghan cuisine.
We have been to this restaurant several times and have enjoyed the food. The service has always been excellent. The prices are very reasonable in my view and the servings are generous.
We received friendly service at this restaurant. A good selection of vegetarian dishes on offer in addition to meat based dishes. The food was flavoursome. Overall good value. We will definitely return. BYO (wine only).
Afghan Village is a lovely restaurant just up from Camberwell junction. Three of us ordered the banquet, (due to laziness) and it was sensational. All the meat dishes where cooked to perfection, with some new flavours that were sensational. The rice dishes where quite typical of the area, and although flavoursome, did the meal justice.
Not being a fan of eggplant, this portion of the entree was the only let down, but the others loved it. In all, just enough food with some beautiful flavours. Top this off with being BYO and an exceptional bottle-O across the road this is a great restaurant.
Price was $30 each for the banquet, well worth it.
