We always have our family gethering there. It was my mum's 50th birthday. We made a booking in week advance. I talked to the staff and explain to her it's mums birthday. We want bit special. She told me there will be nice table cloth, flowers, candles on the table also the birthday song. She asked us to give the menu in advance so that we don't have to wait too long so we gave the menu in week advance too.
Our booking was from 8.45pm for 11 people. We were shocked to see nothing was done for the table decoration. We didn't said anything because mum likes the food from there. At 9pm our starter meal came after that we called the waiters what time is our meal is coming. We had 5 members from overseas, we had other plans after dinner. They keep on saying in 10 or 20mins time main meal is coming.
Garden tables start getting full. We had kid with us, she got hungry and crying we had to buy sweets from India at Home shop because food was still late. At 10.30pm, garden tables was empty everyone was gone except our family still waiting for the meal. We called the staff, told her to bring our cake and we are going, sick of waiting. While we a talking to her it was 10.45pm they got the meal on the table, staff start saying it's not nice to leave the meal and etc.
2 members who ate the meal said there was no taste in the food. At 11pm we were out of there. We didn't even touched most of the meal but still we paid $250. Everyone was so angry and upset, they spoiled bigest day of my mums life. We had to get home, cook and have our meal at midnight.
We have been there 2 times. The first time we went there the food was good but the service was not anywhere close to the standard for the value we paid for the food. We thought, it might be just that day and went there again last week (07/03/08). This time even the food was not that nice, the drinks served were awful and the service were worst. Aangan needs to concentrate on customer service if they want to stay in this business. We will try this place again in 3 months time and give you an update.
Update: We went there again last week (20/06/08) to see if this place has improved!! But again we were very disappointed with the service. We would highly recommend the owner/management to think deep about their floor staffs. If you want to be successful in this business, you have to provide at least some acceptable level of service. Otherwise stick to take-away. Sorry it sounds harsh but you HAVE to accept the truth. Please train your existing staff (mainly hygiene and manners + add some smile) or hire new ones. We do like your food and concept but the service make us think a few times before coming there. Well we will review again in a few months.
Great little place with beer garden. Reasonably cheap and the food was very authentic. Floor staff were slightly disorganised but pricing and food made up for it.
This is a fantastic little restaurant! Dedicated to quality, authentic indian cuisine, you'll be surprised by the menu with many interesting and unusual (and always delicious) dishes on offer. The service is friendly and attentive and the food always fresh and excellent value, don't miss it!
Have been visiting the restaurant for the past 1 year. Food is great but, unfortunately, the service or the people don't appreciate loyal customers. They lack professionalism and make mistakes every single time I visit them. The food is the only plus point but I tend to think twice before going there because of their clumsy service. Never go there on a hot day cause it can get a lil claustrophobic!
The food is fantastic and is great value for money. The staff are very friendly but do tend to try and supersize you a little. There is also an outdoor eating area around the back which is great on a warm night. Some of the best Indian food I have eaten.
