Good looking venue, but the staff managed to mess up every aspect of our experience. Our grouping booking was lost, the bar service was poor, the drinks were over-priced and poorly mixed, and the food had to be chased up more than once. Really disappointing given that we all had high hopes for Barrio Chino.

I used to come here alot, but I am not going back anymore. I will be telling this to the rest of my friends who frequent this restaurant as well.
The service was terrible and slow. Firstly, I ordered green tea for the table, out came one cup of green tea. After wasted ten minutes waving to finally get the attention of a waitress, I said I would like green tea for 'everyone' i.e. in a pot. Then they came us 5 individual cups of green tea, which I suspect they were going to charge me $3.50 each. I had to get the menu to point "1 Pot of green tea" to make them finally understand what I meant.
We finally got our pot, then we discovered they gave us green tea made with powder, and when we asked for refill, they said they will give us hot water Only, no refill of green tea. This is just cheap for a restaurant that charges that price.
We ordered some entrees which came pretty quickly, then sat for 30 minutes waiting for our sukiyaki. FYI there is No cooking involve in sukiyaki, its japanese hotpot where they give you a plate of beef and veggies and you cook yourself. We got abit hungry so we ordered a few more dishes. They told us one dish may take 20 minutes, we said fine.
What we didn't know was, they hold All the rest of the remaining dishes until that One dish is ready before serving the rest, so we basically waited for almost an hour for nothing. What a poor serving management and is just plain stupid.
The restaurant was noisy. I understand it is a karaoke, it wasn't the singing. It was the constant shouting between the waiters/waitresses over our table, and running around us. The heavy footsteps and rushing made the entire time very tensed and stressful. We just couldn't wait to get out of the restaurant.
The food was Ok, I love the sukiyaki but I guess there are plenty of japanese restaurants who can do better than this. Not going back anymore.

Was here over the weekend for a late night cocktail and quite possibly the best value on the strip... not too expensive and no overbearing staff bugging me and my ladyfriend... cockails were awesome and we did share a cheese plate which was really good too. If you are around and want to get away from the crazy people check these guys out.

We came in on Easter Thursday. Lots of people and a good vibe. The cocktails were good, the host was amazingly friendly, and the drinks were good. The food was horrible, any place palming it off at half price surely realises this. We had some meatballs that were still frozen in the middle, despite being assured by the bartender they were cooked fresh. Hmmm.....
The music was fun and fresh, but the overall atmosphere was ruined by the lack of any form of airconditioning.

Hugo's pizza's food has definitely not disappointed, the meatballs are fabulously meaty and rich, how they should be and the pizza is great whatever topping you chose. The atmosphere is great but getting into the place can be a nightmare and service very touch and go (there can be a lot of attitude). I find the wine list great but extremely over-priced. Go early!

Came in on the weekend. Not a lot going on at the place in terms of excitement, but the bar was exactly what we expected. Don't come here looking for an amazing cocktail or overwhelming service, but instead come here for a cheeky beer before hitting the rest of the cross.

Had a Fantastic meal followed by unbelievable Gelato for dessert. Great little place to enjoy a meal with friends. Good Service from the friendly staff. The food was prepared and served quickly. Very moderate portions for the price too. Will definitely eat there again before my heading out next time I'm in the cross.

Came here for brunch in a group of 8. It was absolutely packed but only after a short 5 min wait, we were promptly seated. Service was great, however, you could tell that everyone was under the pump because the waitress mixed up a tea order twice and very shortly told us that water was self service which was quite rude!
Food was great, most of us had the uliveto breakfast with free range eggs, chicken chipolata, grilled tomato and thick slice of crusty bread. All yummy and cooled off by having a nice fresh watermelon juice. Love the buzz here and will defo be back!

Good food, orders were a bit slow in coming, but that would be my only issue with the whole meal. Disappointing service though, a bit sloppy.

I really loved it here. Great atmosphere and I love the communal dining idea. Great list of tequilas and tequila cocktails. I hate corn chips but their corn chips are different and very delicious. The servings are small so don't go there if you want a big feast. The food is designed to share. Very fresh and vibrant Mexican food. Love!

Pretty good pub food, the fish and chips actually had juicy fish, which has become rare. Steak was also reportedly good. Latest fitout is not as nice and open as the last but the pub is still good for a drink.

We booked a table for 16 at 8.30pm on a Saturday night. When we arrived on time we were told the table was not ready and shooed towards the bar area. By 9.00pm I thought I would check if our table was ready to which the response by the hostess was “yeah, yeah, yeah, it will be ready soon.” How professional. By 9.20pm we were told the table was ready without a glimmer of an apology. Now to the food. All I can say is wow what a disappointment after waiting 1 hour. The best part about the dinner was the corn which is saying something. The tacos all tasted the same, stale and bland. We had 3 tacos each and after the first one no one wanted to touch the others. The margaritas and sangria were no better. Did I mention they charge a 10% surcharge for groups of 8 or more? Save your money for a place that actually cares about its customers. There is a reason it barely gets a pass mark on urbanspoon.

I have had by far my best nights out in this venue. Week in week out my friends & I are here & it never changes. The staff are so happy to see regulars & go out of their way to learn your name, the music is by far the best in the Cross with some really good name DJ's coming in & it is always open nice & late.
Ive had my birthday party, a friends hen's party & also attended a work function here so its clear they cater for all people. Even if you come in early they will try make space for you if you want to sit down. Love the place through & through (some good looking boys around most nights also).

One of the blander options for (tex-)mex food but it's hearty and has more flavour and spice than Mad Mex. Can't compare to Guzman though.

I came to the Kit and Kaboodle for an end of semester/uni course party. The venue itself was stylish enough but sadly of course the Kings Cross area is essentially full of drunkards and (some) perverts. In terms of value for money for hiring this venue for formal or social events, there are issues. The standard 2 or 3 drinks per person arrangement is marred by patrons only being able to trade in their “free drinks” tickets for a limited range of drinks like Carlton Draught, Victoria Bitter or cheapie whisky like Ballantine (yucky blended stuff).
I’d have much rather traded in all three of the drinks tickets for one good drink and once I’d have started, I would have kicked on with more drinks from the bar. Alas, that was not permitted. So I drank water. I’m probably better for it because this place effectively encouraged me not to drink at all. As for the nibblies, they were nothing to write home about.

Not Recommended! We were so disappointed. Food is pretty much just 1 flavour sour.
Mexican food supposed to be full of flavour. The ceviche is a bowl of mushy mess. Even the waiters called it 'fish dip'. The margarita is very ordinary. Save your your trip and money for Mexicano @ Narrabeen!
