Food was pretty good. The only thing was the pork was a just a little dry, but everything else good. Decor not my personal liking, but everyone's preference is different. Service good. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food.

My family and I loved the history and character of this restaurant and the 1878 cottage which it is a part of and thought the food was excellent. I took my parents here who were on holiday from England and they loved the very Australian rustic charm of the place, especially the heritage listed settlers cottage which was made even more special when one of the waitresses gave us a little guided tour after and an explanation of the history. We all thought the food was excellent although I feel it is a little over priced. I had the seared duck which had delicious accompaniments such as the fennel puree and overall an excellent dish. I think this restaurant is ideally suited to overseas visitors or hopeless romantics, like me.

We came to celebrate my Birthday. It was recommended by our Hotel. After we booked, we were told that we would be the 2nd sitting at 20:30. When we arrive, the reception was very poor, then we were left feeling less than worthy! We had to ask to get the end of our bottle of wine after we paid. The service was very sterile, no personality, no friendliness, nor character.

We were very disappointed, considering the price tag. The food was good, but the service and attention so apalling that we were left with a sour taste in our mouth! Premium prices at ordinary restaurant value.

Our waiter was lovely, but empty aperitif glasses were left on the table until half way through our main course. My husband ran out of red wine before finishing his steak, had the bottle been left on the table he could have poured it himself, but we had to rely on our waiter to notice, which took a while! With the prices that you charge, one would expect a far better service.

Hidden behind the Towers Estate in the Hunter Valley, this restaurant is one of the most memorable experiences of my fine dining life!

I loved the layout of this restaurant - it's a little cottage and every room in the house is a dining room. Very rustic in ambience but the food was sophisticated. Started with the zucchini flowers and Garlic and pepper calamari and the prawn and basil stuffed zucchini flowers. Both were phenomenal.

I had the salmon and tortellini scallop and have never had such a gorgeous pairing in my life. Salmon is usually served with a salad or mayo or mash (standard) but this was unbelievably good. Partner had Assiete of White Lamb and the lamb was cooked well. We had the hand cut chips on the side which were very moorish.

An absolute gastronomical experience, don't judge a book by its cover, the food will astound you.

Very disappointing, the scallops were overcooked the batter on the tempura zucchini flowers was stodgy and thick. For mains the charred eggplant puree with the lamb tasted burnt and very bitter. It overwhelmed everything and left an awful mouthfeel. The rack of lamb was raw in the middle, not pink, Raw. I showed the waitress and she said she'd inform the chef but there it was on the bill at the end and not a single word in response. I talked to the maitre d' and she offered a comp dessert. We just wanted to get out of there. $245 wasted, we won't be back.

My partner and I was up in the Hunter for a few days a week ago and dined at this wonderful establishment. It is a local favourite as well as a must visit for the out of towner. I had the scallops for a starter and the lamb for a main. My partner had the quail to start and duck as the main. All meals were perfect and the service amazing. I will be back every visit to the hunter. I would make a weekend of it just to eat here.

What a superb place! We had dinner my wife and I last night at Roberts and were very happy of it. We didn't booked a table, the restaurant was recommended by the winemaker The Carriages (next door, we stayed for sleep in their cottage, was amazing).

We knew was a fine dining room but happy to pay for good food and good service.
Started with a duck pate plate homemade, tasty beautiful, and calamari, just not enough salted (my opinion). For mains we had Beef Sirloin and Venison, well cooked, great garnished, side of hand cut chips.

Desserts, we had Dark chocolate pudding with quince and hazelnut ice cream, great finish! Service was very attentive, helpful, and professional, the decor is outstanding. Bill came $250, for a 3 courses with wine ( Tyrrell's Shiraz 07 ), very happy. We will be back!

Love the decor, we booked the private room with a party of 12. Fantastic atmosphere the room was next to an open fire place just beautiful. The food was outstanding, I had the sashimi plate and gnocchi filled with bluevien cheese. I really enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Hunter Valley. It is a bit prices but well worth it.
