My husband and I decided on our anniversary dinner at Mojo's after much debate given some of the recent poor reviews. We couldn't have asked for a better dinner! The food was unbelievable! Not to mention great service (we did go on a Monday night). We had the 3 course menu with matching wines which was fantastic! Highly recommended!

Very disappointed with Mojo's on Wilderness. I had heard wonderful things about this place and given their prices, I was thoroughly shocked by the lack of professionalism in both the food and the service.
The food was quite plain, tasted mediocre and haphazardly cooked. A poor excuse for Modern Australian cuisine. The service was slow, multiple menu items unavailable and one of the waitresses was extremely conceited and arrogant. Perhaps, after many wine tastings people would not notice, however, after this experience with Mojo's I will not be coming back. It is my hope that this review will save others from wasting their time and money.

Such a disappointing experience. My partner and I ate here on Saturday night, expecting a great meal after enjoying the food from the cafe at lunch on several occasions.
We ordered 2 courses each and there were serious problems with 2 of the 4 dishes.
The first course (Quail) was passable but was nothing special. For the mains I had the beef (was quite good) and my partner had the Barramundi. The fish looked good, however, the knife could not make it all the way through because the inside was completely raw. Thinking it may be part of the dish, we cut around the fish to find that about 50% was cooked.
After questioning the staff, it was taken away quickly and they apologised (fine we thought, this happens sometimes). However, when we got our fish back, we were shocked. We got the same piece of fish (now mashed up in pieces) after it had clearly been put in the microwave (you could tell the texture). Wow, shocking.
However, even after this we kept positive and looked forward to the dessert. We got the Strawberry (they did not have Mangoes) and cream Semifreddo with Tuille. The Tuille (wafer) was viably burnt when the plate was put on the table. Thinking it may just be caramelised, we tasted and it was bitter and tasted like burnt toast. The second big mistake. By this stage we just wanted to leave.
We ate around the tuille and when asked how it was by the waitress when clearing our plates, we told her that it was burnt, to be told "oh sorry". Would you like the bill?". We received the full bill with nothing taken off.
What a horrible meal, Mojo. I had high expectations and we are normally really forgiving when it comes to mishaps. However, the way the problems were dealt with just made the meal a horrible experience. No quality. There are so many nicer places to eat in the hunter. Give this restaurant a miss. I will never be back and will never recommend it to my friends again.
Just because the Hunter is full of tourists, this is no excuse for bad service and bad food.

Had heard it was good from more than one source. Left it until the last night, Sunday @ 7.00, when the crowds were down. Four of us for dinner with wine thanks. All food and wine and we choose different meals and, therefore, different wine, were excellent. Well thought out, well made and presented and some just a little bit different, Yea. The Hunter is busy Friday and Saturday night, make it Special, make it Sunday.

My wife and I booked a table weeks in advance, only to show up and find that the booking had been lost. After reasoning with the staff for a while, the owner came out to tell us that we must have made a mistake because he had been in this business for 20 years and had never lost a booking before. To add insult to injury, my wife recognised his distinct voice & accent from the telephone. We ended up having to drive around a sparsely populated area at 8pm looking for somewhere to eat when most restaurants were fully booked.

Wanting to avoid a large expensive lunch, we stopped at Mojo's deli for a quick bite to eat in the middle of a day of wine tasting. We loved the simplicity of the pre-prepared food on offer and the politeness of the staff.
Despite being the middle of winter, we were able to sit outside in the fresh air thanks to the gas heaters and our food and coffee was quickly delivered to out table. 2 pizzas, 2 coffees and a cold drink for $30 - we will be back.

We came here for a late lunch at the deli and it was excellent! We had the ham, brie, salad on toasted turkish bread and it was very good for only $8.50! This is a hidden gem of a place for lunch in the Hunter Valley!

Highly recommended! We did the deli gourmet food for lunch. Salmon quiche is to die for. The pizza with pumpkin & fetta is amazing. Chick pea salad is great. Just don't order the chicken with vermicelli, it's like wire. Loved the bean bags, the atmosphere. Food is amazing! My fave place in the hunter valley. Great value. Fed 9 adults for $76. Most enjoyable time during our time in the hunter. A must do! A little tricky to find, dirt road, worth the drive in. GPS can't find it, just use the conventional map.

What you actually find when you arrive at Mojo's is singularly unprepossessing. It’s a long, dark dining room with luggage racks stretching the length of the room. It gives you the feeling of being in a second-class railway carriage in the Balkans. It’s painted a shiny, distressed dung rouge. The cramped tables are set with labially off white cloths, which give it a colonic appeal and the awkward sense that you might be a suppository.
At the end of the dining room is the tiny kitchen and an even tinier bar, where the waiters lurk like extras for a Hunter version of The Hills Have Eyes. The staff are an essential part of Mojo's mystique. The hostess at reception was a paunchy, combative, surly women, bulging out of her black jacket with the meaty malevolence of gouty buffalo. She exudes a pantomime insolence and as you walk in she approaches with an eyebrow raised and nose aloft to give you the benefit of full-frontal froggy nostril.
We made it past the door and confirmed our reservation booked three weeks prior. Expecting to be seated at our table, our particular chubby, oyster-eyed lady dumps off a pair of menus and a large book without a word or the offer of a drink - to tell us the wait for our table would be two hours, despite being on time.
Apparently she gambled that we wouldn't show and actually gave our table to someone else. Needless to say we rang 24 hours earlier to confirm we were down the road and thoroughly looking forward to our trip to Mojo's.
I have the time nor patience to talk about the food itself. It’s undeniable that Mojo's really is special and apart. It has earned an epic accolade. It is, all things considered, the restaurant with the worst service in the Hunter Valley.

Went here for me and my gf's retreat to the Hunter. What can I say? My GPS wasn't able to find this place, but my phone could...at night, the roads were dark and difficult to navigate. But the signs outside stood out from all the darkness!
Upon arrival, was greeted with torches at the front, quite romantic. The inner decor was superb, very intimate. I specifically requested a table close to the fireplace as mentioned by another reviewer, good choice.
Menu had a great selection. I ordered Bocconcini for entree and Grilled Barra for main. After the meal, I regretted not ordering the soup for entree as I couldn't even finish my creme brulee! The barra was superb, complimented perfectly with the pumpkin gnocchi. She had the duck for main, which was also very good.
Overall experience was fantastic, only 1 waitress on the shift, but she managed so well and still provided exceptional service. We both left satisfied and will recommend this place to anyone visiting the Hunter.
