Lunch there last Thursday and have to say I cannot understand the various low ratings appearing below. The duck liver pate entree and the double cooked duck main are Both to die for while I'm told the rabbit was equally good. Service from Sally and her staff were also excellent so, while prices are up there, it's a place not to miss!

Terrible. We would not go back. It was overrpiced, service was slow, mains took well over an hour after entrees (for lunch mind you), and 2 out of 4 mains (spatchcock and duck) were overcooked. The duck was served with a Tinned peach, which in unnacceptable. The beef showed no flair. We recommend going somewhere else, just past Broke, instead. That place was just fabulous. In summary, certainly not deserving of a chef hat.

Beautiful venue and ambience, food superb, service outstanding, and a great selection of wines. It certainly represents fair value for such an experience.

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch with a wonderful view.
Each dish was unique, full of flavour and cooked to perfection... I'm going to let my photos do the talking here :)
This is a Hunter Valley dining experience we won't forget.

Simply a divine experience in every way. The food was superb... fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection and the service could not be faulted. Set high in the hills of the Hunter Valley the view was amazing and the ambiance was perfection. A dining experience I will never forget. We will return very soon.

Is this place a joke? Yes the view is beautiful! This only helps if you are seated at a table in view of the view. If not, then the atmosphere is certainly lacking.
Then there is the service, or lack thereof. I think someone needs to tell these wait staff that they are actually there to provide a service and not to prance around as though the customers should be honoured to be in their presence!
Rudeness and arrogance here is rife.
Now to the prices. Such high prices are warranted when the service and food is exceptional. Here, this is not the case and the portions are tiny. I am sorry but this restaurant was nothing but disappointing. Go somewhere else instead.

Superb in every way. Views, food and service are all excellent. We have been here a few times and every time we have never been let down. This is for sure one of the best Hunter Valley places to eat and enjoy.

While the ambience was cosy and staff were attentive, unfortunately, the food was very "homestyle" - no surprise and nothing really stood out. I expected something better for a main that costs $40+. Nowhere near the level of other one-hat restaurants in Sydney.

Hi, The Bistro Molinas was highly recommended to us and being French food lovers we visited. What a disaster!
Two of our group ordered a main course for lunch. The others two entrees and an entree plus dessert. We took the trouble to explain to the waiter to serve the first entrees and the mains together followed by the second courses when appropriate. How hard is that?
What we got was two entrees. Some time later the mains turned up. Before the entree dishes were half consumed the dessert was put on the table followed shortly after by the other [second course] entree.
As for the food, $46 for a main where the rest of the Hunter Valley is $36. Ok if the quality is there. We rated 3 dishes 6-6.5 one 7.5 and two at 8. Far from what we expected! Expensive, no special food and no service. We will not be returning. Not recommended.

We followed Robert here from his previous restaurant and he did not disappoint us! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Try the lambs brains!
For a $27 entree and $43 main though, I expect a much more professional level of service. All the staff were very friendly, but just a bit sloppy. The kind of service I would expect from my local pizza joint. Molines needs to either drop the prices to match the service, or lift the service to match the price. As it stands, I don't think it's very good value for money.
