Great restaurant for such a tiny town. Thursday night in the off season. Four meals, steak, steak, pork and fish. Presentation was beaut. Wine was very good. Steak was very good. Pork was divine. I didn't try the fish. She wouldn't share. Prices were reasonable. Service was as good as you could ask for, friendly and courteous. We didn't have to wait long. I'd recommend The Banc to all my friends. I've done that to some already.

What can one say, this is probably the best Italian restaurant in Hobart at the moment (April 2012).

The guy who did my hair was funny, skillful, paid my meter money and had me out of there in 15 minutes (which is all it needed). He pointed out the scenery and didn't cut my ear off while we reviewed it. All good. Only drawbacks were: I could tell he was a smoker, and he could work on the decor (nice sofa though). Best of all he had good tunes on.

Susie did a great job with the hair cut she gave me, very up to date and did exactly what I asked for, and provided good advice and input. I would say the professionalism of the younger staff is not quite as great as it could be, openly criticising fellow apprentices and customers. I think the atmosphere between the two businesses down there is fairly awkward as well. For a cut and colour, it was under $100 which is amazingly good value, and I would definitely come back.

We dropped in without a booking, and were seated towards the back of the very large and busy restaurant. Food was ok, not brilliant. Diners go to the counter to order and pay for drinks and dinner. It's not bad, but certainly we won't rush back there.

The restaurant appealed to us because it was very well situated, with harbor views, modern, light. With ornate decoupage, wall hangings, depicting varying kinds of fish. Very innovative. Also a purpose built balcony for alfresco dining. The restauranteur has a good history in seafood restaurants. We anticipated having a good night. Our choice was the seafood platter, for two peoples, served over two courses; cold entree platter of tiger prawns, sashimi, pickled octopus salad + lemon vinaigrette. Followed by a hot seafood selection; char grilled ocean trout, blue eye, Thai fishcakes, seared squid, beer battered fish, chips, dipping sauces. All was beautifully prepared and presented, absolutely delicious. The selection of fish plus the tasty accompaniments presented a wide range of flavors and textures, that were very pleasing to the pallet. Loverly desserts, delicious. Excellent service. Everything we expected and more. Recommend. Reservations advisable.

Came to Mures fish centre for lunch and my partner and I decided to share a $16.90 fishermans basket as we weren't overly hungry. When we collected it, we assumed the order had been confused as the serving was tiny, small piece of fish which could be considered a fish cocktail, handful of chips and a couple of deep fried tidbits.
We told staff that we'd accidentally received the snack size but were told snack size is half of what we got! Very disappointed. Won't be back and will be referring visitors to Tassie to better seafood restaurants.
