Went here for the first time with a friend who had been there a few years ago, it was her who recommended this place and so we were both really excited about going. I had heard really good things about this place not only from her but others also, but it turns out things have changed.
Firstly the costumes that the waiters wore really were quite pathetic. There were better costumes and costume make up done at the halloween party I went to this year. The food was very very average, considering we paid so much for the meal too, it would have been nice to be able to choose the entree and dessert as well.. entree was fish/pastry thing. The dessert was a dark chocolate coffin with gross cream filling, hardly a gourmet dessert that they make it out to be, most of the people around me didnt eat it either.
The show was filled with pathetic attempts at stand up, lame lame jokes that really went no where, we spent the whole night waiting for something decent. At one stage the show turned into a performance/interpretive dance about reproduction. We were expecting impressive acts but got none, the 'serpent woman' turned out to be a woman singing a song with what looked likstockings stuffed with newspaper and spray painted to look like snakes attached to her.
The trapeze act was hardly an act at all with them sitting on swings and making even more lame jokes. I really do feel sorry for the actors having to do this night after night, because it was obvious they were tired of it themselves too. The characters all doing covers in their 'jazz band' really were not impressive either.. definitely catered to the 'schoolies' there. I would say it would be an appropriate show for people aged 14-18 or the adult aged mentally retarded.
The service was pretty poor too. I ordered my drink as soon as we got in and took 3 reminders and about 40 minutes for it to come out and had no flavour to it at all, it seemed to be mainly ice so was returned almost completely un drunk. This place really pushes the expensive drinks and gimmicky products in their souvenir shop. Needless to say me and my friend, and the girls we were sat with who we made friends with they were all really disappointed and spent a lot of time complaining about how we wanted our money back. Definitely not worth going back unless they have a drastic change of show/food quality etc.
Went here with my boyfriend and loved it. The building is mind blowing and the ghost train was awesome! our waitress was a crazy costumed 'little dead riding hood' and she was as entertaining as the performers. The show was amazing, very crass but visually stunning.
We had a few delicious cocktails each and checked out all the fun merchandise in the 'little shop of horrors', they change the show every year and were undergoing renovations when we were there. Will definitely go back for the next show, I had an absolute blast.
Was really disappointed, had been there twice before when they were in their old premises and had a real ball and felt it was value for money however, this time I have to say they were too focussed on getting us to buy drinks and spend in gift shops. We had enjoyed the last visit so much that we took our twins to celebrate their birthday.
When buying the tickets were told we were upstairs to find that unless you booked 3 months ago - 6 weeks pre-booking did not give you any right to expect to choose good seats even though we were told we would be upstairs. On the night we were given VIP seating instead of upstairs and we were so far up the back of the room that we could not hear the words to the songs, or see the girl on the swing. The show was really lame although the performers did their best and looked great. The show lacked professionalism it was just awful, there were too many intermission breaks and they were too long and we got bored, it was way too loud, especially the music and the meals were what we were used to which was nice.
However, the drinks were too dear for our family two adults and two 17yr olds. We spend $500.00 plus tickets, gift shop (being birthdays), photo, signature book, drinks and we were very disapppointed and will never go back again or recommend it as a place to go to.
I go to Dracula's every time I come to the Gold Coast (4 times so far), and I love this place! The atmosphere is vibrant, it's lots of fun, the staff are decked out in great costumes and have lots of fun with the guests. The food is good, the show is fun, and overall it's a great night out at a decent price. I will definitely be going back again when I head up in July for a holiday!
What is wrong with this place? I have been here once before and it was ok... but I went there a 2nd time last week and it was terrible!!! The jokes are pathetic... old and not funny at all.. I was embarrassed for the people on stage having to say the same jokes over and over..
It's a good idea.. but it seems to have run out of material and is a complete waste of money. A Cocktail here is $30 and it hardly seemed as though there was any alcohol in it. I will never go back there and will advise everyone I know to never go there.
